Allow Brawling users to buy maneuvers not in the brawling list
for 4 karma each.

OR:

Permit Brawlers to buy up to their skill rating in manuevers.

Guys, a question.

I haven't had the time to do anything but scan through
most of the sections in CC yet. What I've heard about
the martial arts system is that brawling is, possibly,
better than other martial arts, because it allows you
to buy it at any level without forcing you to buy
manoeuvres. So what's this about "underpowered
brawling"? Is there something in the rules I haven't
seen yet that makes brawling inferior to all other
martial arts?

Not that I can see. Brawling (Pit-fighting, Boxing) gets the same 9
maneuvers that all of the other styles do. The one advantage that it gets
is that you are nor forced to purchase maneuvers every two levels like
every other style does. I wouldn't call it underpowered at all.

I'm sorry- is brawling underpowered? How so?
It offers a good assortment of manuevers, and has no drawbacks to speak
of. Some other martial arts only offer the option of learning a manuever
for use with weapons as thier advantage- that's not only useless in an
unarmed fight, its a manuever you did NOT learn to use unarmed.
All the styles (including brawling) can already learn up to skill rating
in manuevers, if you use the option to pay extra for doing so.
Maybe the other styles offer advantages for certain manuevers or
options, but with brawling, you can buy up you skill level with comparative
ease (no need for teachers or learning manuevers you won't use), so you can
have extra dice by virtue of skill.

I really don't see that it needs any fixing, and it is in fact one of
the better styles to learn, IMO.
