Oh, I dunno, I think just knowing numbers like that would be
revenge enough. Besides, I use a threaded news-reader, so I read one copy
'cause it was in 'dc.config' and deleted all the others from the menu.

To bring this conversation into line with Shadowrun, here's an
interesting thought: flaming on the Matrix. Only a total idiot (and we
sure have enough of _those_ on the 'net!) would flame one of the majorly
powerful deckers (like those who can get rid of the time/date stamp),
'cause a good decker could easily cause that luser's account to implode
with them inside of it.
How would _you_ anonymously send flames via the Matrix? It has to
be a way that you couldn't be traced, and that wouldn't completely destroy
the recipient -- just make them a little wary the next time they jacked in.

ever hear of current day eudora or pop mail? 'nuff said...just find a pop host
and bang you're invisible...(i did it the other day on 'my' pc in our library
to a friend from satan@****.com :) _DO_NOT_DO_THIS_UNDER_ANY_CIRCUMSTANCES_
this is not a joke to be playing around with. I did it as a demonstration to
my boss in the library to show him how unprotected our access is...keeping
someone in the dark on certain things may help but loose lips sink ships...

my point is this: there has to be some form of analog of current day pop mail
in 2050+...just think it up...

here's an interesting point: remember in Shadow Play with the epilogue?
zurich orbital was able to send mail _right_ to
her cyberdeck..kinda scary isn't it?

One can assume that with the proliferation of the information society, we
would witness the economies of demand creating anonymous remailers.
Julf's anon.penet.fi is only the most basic form of a double-blind
remailer, and suffers from several problems (most notably, the lack of
bandwidth and processsing power, plus the fact he's losing money on it.)

Cypherpunks have long advocated utilizing digital stamps that you would
affix to your messages to use remailers. You'd purchase (with real $$$)
stamps from the remailer operators and when you wanted to double-blind
something, you'd have to put a stamp in the document. (You can also mail
the digital stamps to other people so they can use the remailers, or you
could include a SASE, so to speak). I don't want to go into the
technical details on this list.

In SR-2055, one can assume that people ahve what would best be described
as P.O. Boxes. Messages for you go to the box and you could check them
at your leisure. A little fannagling, and you could easily establish an
alias of anonymous address and a double-blind messaging system.

Our Fearless Leader again has a great point...for those of you have read
'Burning Chrome' do you remember what Quine had done to snatch a peek at the
node? He double blinded through 2 other links and the most that they could
worry about was the person owning then node he 'peeked' through getting
burned...kinda like a FireWall
