Okay, this may be a bit redundant for those people monitoring NERPS
but I have a question.

1. You can create Stacked Foci.
2. Take a Spirit Foci and a Weapon Foci and stake it in a sword.
3. Take the Spirit Foci aspect of the Foci and make it a Unique
Enchantment used to enhance an ally with Inhabitation.
4. Create the ally, "lock" it into the Unique Enchantment aspect
of the foci thereby raising its physical attributes by the rating.
5. Bond the Weapon Foci aspect to the magician.

Does this seem possible?

Yes

Okay

Uh? I don't think you can do that. No, I'm sure you can't do that. The
Unique Enchantment for an ally with Inhabitation is a homunculus, not a type
of focus.

No, see above, plus a homunculus is a statue. That means it must be in the
form of a creature, not a weapon.

See above.

NO!!!!!!!

Ah, but it is described as a specific Spirit Foci, or would you
interpret this to be merely for mechanics reasons- ie bonding
costs and actualy procedures.

First off, the book definitely states you can create a unique
enchantment that adds its rating to the physical attributes
of the ally (I will find a citation if ya'd like).

Second, I think the notion of a statue is somewhat vague-
so then this razor sharp solid metal sword shaped thing
is a statue.

But before I debate either of these issues any further, I
better go read my Grim II to see if it was changed from edition
to edition again. :)

For the magic rating AND magic pool, when I cast a fireball,
can I combine:

Power focus 4
combat spell focus 3
fireball focus 5

Sorcery(spellcasting) 6(7)
Base magic rating 6

for a magic pool of 19
and magic rating of 18

???????????

No.

Magic Rating with active Power Focus = 10

Magic Pool for spell casting = 11 - Spell foci do not add to the magic pool
SRII - pg 137 col 2, para 4.

Spell foci are treated like magic pool dice - but they are not.
Spell catagory foci can be used for drain, success or spell catagory resistance.
They can not be used for normal spell resistance.
Specific Spell Foci can be used for drain and success tests only.

Welcome to the world of stacked foci. Throw in any ally you have for
another addition to the pool.

With stacked foci like that, you could go around levelling buildings!

Not that that is a bad thing.......

We've discovered that levelling buildings is a bda idea. They tend to
fall on you if you're too close. :-)

On page 85 of SR4 it says:
"Adepts may only bond to weapon foci. Magicians and mystic adepts can bond
to any type of focus."

But what hapens when a Mystic Adept buys and binds a power focus, and the
same Mystic adept has the Attribute Boost power?

Does he get to add the power focus rating to his tests to active teh
Attribute Boost?

If so, then he clearly has an advantage above the Adept, which has to rely
on his natural Magic for teh Attribute Test.
