Correct. You can take physical damage if Cha < Force <= 2*Cha,
and the drain is Deadly physical only if the entity's Force > 2*Cha,
I recall.

But there's always the chance of a fumble (rolling all 1's).
And whether the fumble was just losing control, or also underestimating
the Force of the thing, is up to the GM's good nature (or sense of
the dramatic).

BTW, yet another of our house rules: Fumble is when half or more
of the dice come up 1's. (This shifts the chance a reasonable way
down the exponentially-decreasing curve of probability.) TN modifiers
included, I believe.

Even with this increased chance, though, I think we've only ever had
1 fumble of a Summoning.

Yes, summoning is fairly painless if the force of the spirit is
less than your Charisma...until you critically fail. Like someone else
posted, I have only seen it happen once, and the mage spent 45 days in a
coma after being severely spanked by the...entity that responded to his
summoning-gone-awry.
