Here are my instant ideas on the subjects:

The 21st century equivalent of a telephone is a
digital device that can deal with audio, text,
video, or just about any other format of data you
might throw at it. It can deal with data that is
live, like a telephone, or stored, like email or
voice mail. It is its own answering machine.
Any data sent would typically be encrypted.
Today's email would simply be a special case of
a non-urgent text message. You could type it in,
or enter it mentally with a data Jack, or speak it
and have machine take dictation, as I'm doing
now.

The email of the 2050s can include attached
files, pictures, programs, and videos as well.
Masquerading as an email message is a
reasonable tactic for a Decker, although so
common that Corps will expect it.

Take a look at my least favorite sourcebook, Shadowbeat. There's a
whole section under _Broadcast_ of the services available.

It all depends on the equipment you have, of course; you can't send a
full-vid message to someone if you deactivate the camera on your
portacomm. Presumably, since the tech is available in 205x, most
messages will be full-video, though.

And no, Shadowbeat isn't my _least_ favorite sourcebooks (take a look at
the "Shredded Documents" section of my (non-existent) webpage if you
want to watch me rip into any/all of the SR stuff) but it's not one I
refer back to very often.

In _Shadowplay_, Sly receives a text message from Falcon that
looks an awful lot like traditional email

What can I say, I'm a GM. I have a dragon
secretary. :)

When I told my parents I was going to work for
Dragon Systems, they were sure that "that
horrible game stuff" had overwhelmed my
common sense AGAIN.
