I must confess you do have a point here. Although I think we are now
starting to get into individual gaming styles. There are those people who
like stats for everything, they like the game to be a science. There are
also those players who want a creative adventure. Some of the "stat fans"
aren't trying to be "pedantic" <hehe>, they just want to feeling they are
getting a fair shake. They also want to feel that their characters live in a
realistic world, where a Panasonic microwave(do they make microwaves) always
cost $65, not where the GMs poetic license is going to run from $45 to $70.

I guess what I'm getting at is you would have to trust and feel real
comfortable with your GM. Further if for some reason you GM or you Group
lack a certain creative desire your game will instally become boring.
Everyone will have a "light pistol" no mods, and without gear to drool over
and think about buying it will become a boring roll fest.

I do like the idea of more graphics and whatnot but then you get discussions
they go on much longer than they should, like certain credstick discussion,
that would carefully pick apart everything know about credsticks. You also
see arguments as to if the rifle on page 72 has the scope X3 or Scope X2
with laser attachment mods.

I'm not trying to kill your idea I think it would be cool to offer a
stripped down version of the rules, and maybe catalog books to those who
felt they really needed them. I just feel you may lose a significant section
of the Shadowruning population.

Now in thinking about a stripped down rules concept, what if the main source
book retailed for like $20 and had the rules and the basics for each class
of weapon/armor/ vehicles as described below, and a number of mods for each.
It would look more like the weapons creation guide in Cannon Companion. Then
the supplements (like cannon companion) would have additional mods and
optional rules. it would also include design tips, and a catalog format in
the back, a small picture, and a list of the mods to make a
weapon/armor/vehicle like the one in the picture. Do you think this format
could satisfy all parties involved and keep Shadowrun a money making
venture?

Then you could truly run any game from just the core book, not having
additional book wouldn't handicap the game, but having them would truly
enhance it.
