Just wait until you get to college. Then there are lots of GM's
but a shortage of players. No fun.

Us GMs also like to play :). Once you get out of college and into the Real
World (tm), life gets much more interesting. Did you know that among adult
roleplayers in Nashville, it's easier to find female players than male? I
like to maintain gender parity in my groups and it's getting difficult.

Seriously, I'm 33 and currently running Earthdawn while playing in MERPS
and Shadowrun. We've got a rotating GM-ship thing that works darned well,
with each GM taking a different system. Give it a try.

My group does the same thing. We do run into one little problem though, too
many games (SRII, Champions, ?:tG, DC Heros, Hero, Darksun, & AD&D). When
your group has that many games going you better take good notes.

We have a lot of fun though.

We tried that, rotating between ADnD, Shadowrun and Call of Cthulu.
It started out OK, but eventually degenerated into nothing but ADnD.

I tend to be an obsessive notes-taker anyway. Having a Psion helps
tremendously. Also, my MERPS character is a sleuth so the note-takin is
even in character. I just run printouts and hand them to the other players,
saying that my character has spent some downtime copying his notes for the
others.

Shadowrun's notes tend to be more lists of contacts, who said what to who
and who owes who what. I do need to keep track of my agent, for the vid
market... thanks for the reminder.

And of course for Earthdawn, since I'm running it, I've got reams of notes
about what's gone before and where the campaign might be going, which I can
revise during the week between gaming sessions, whenever I have an evil
idea. :)

We used to play in the same way (back when I still had a gaming life),
and ran into the same problem. It became hard to run good campaigns,
because sometimes there would be a year or two before you got back to the
game - notes are essential! But the system still works pretty well,
because it places quite a lot of pressure on the GM to have an
interesting campaign -- interesting campaigns keep on going but less
interesting ones tend to be forgotten for a while as everybody moves on
to another game.

We play (starts to count on fingers) 'bout 8 or so different games
or so, what we found was that the games when in phazes of about 3
months, currently we are in the SR, ED, DC, Star Wars Phaze, this
however is about to change to WH,CoC,SR,ED phaze. If nothing else it
keeps us interested in the games. The only complaint that I have as a
player is when the game is ignored for long periods of time, you
start to forget how to play certain characters. Taking as an example
our AD&D campaign, we only play it because keeping characters alive
through 9 years of playing them is difficult and they have had to
much effort placed into their creation. Our GM got himself a job, so
we get to play once a year (and I'm not joking).

Exactly what's going on with my group. Here's an excerpt from our mass
mailing:

Plus the occasional Mage, and Vampire and a D&D game where evil PCs
are breeding an army of goblins to assault the Keep on the Border
Lands (TM).

Looks like ten games to me! (Mine is Forgotten Realms/Earthdawn, so
we can use all those dice besides the 6's and 10's)

Peace, love and artichokes.
