I'm about to start a game in which I am a formerly active member
of a gang, and still keep in touch with them. If they turn out to be
useful, I'll keep y'all posted.

I'm just dumping mail at the moment. What are you trying to say, you've
joined an EMail Shadowrun game? Interesting, but damn slow, I'm sure.

Speaking of \Peck\, you hear from him?

Speaking of Mr. Scott/Smiley/Sexpot, has anyone heard from him?

i have run several off game time kinda things over the net at work - when
you get a couple of minutes you reply as to your action/reaction and it
goes on..it is a good way to take care of stuff that doesn't concern the

During the last weeks I've played Elven Fire with my goup.
Nice adventure but I missed one. Then I saw what Erik (aka the
Whistler) (SORRY for any wrongspelling) did.
What I've missed was Info about oyher gangs as the ancient. So
what about the idea doing the same with gangs.
If everbody mail me the info about one or two of his gangs in his
universe I would do the editing.
What Do you think?

I think important Info about gangs are (Like in Elven fire p.65)

I've got 2 questions regarding gangs...

1)Has anyone fleshed out any of the gangs?

The only place I can find any real data on any of the gangs is in the
Companion. There's a small amount of data in the Seattle Source Book, but,
that's just colors, race, and turf.

2)Is there any other locations I missed?

Well, I must admit that that is a very interesting idea. I have been
making tons of NPC's and extra archetypes for about a week now, and I
have yet to even think of fleshing out a gang yet. Thanks for the idea.
And no, I haven't any answers to your question. Sorry.

I flesh them out on the fly (most of the time). Last time my characters
encountered the 'Rat Eaters'. I think, they are mentioned somewhere in the
Seattle Sourcebook (not in the Gang Section but in the Renton Section).

Books about gangs? The Underworld Sourcebook has a lot about gangs in it.

I have some (I've sent Adam one of them to bother one of his players with
-- have you used it yet, BTW?) but they're not quite finished yet.

All you really need for gangs is your imagination, IMHO. Just describe
what they look like and decide for yourself how big the gang is, and
thats it. I feel much of the gang "creation" stuff in recent SR books is a
bit unnecessary, really.

> 2)Is there any other locations I missed?

The Underworld sourcebook has some more gangs.

Well, I tried to, but then the GM stole my fraggin girlfriend(in real
life) and so things weren't quite the same. :)

IIRC Tir Tairngire talks a little bit about the Ancients. Um, I can't
remember the module, (DNA/DOA?) but one really gives up the skinny on
the Ancients- putting it up on a website would get a lot of hits I'm
sure- hint, hint. :)
Again, IIRC, the London and Germany Sourcebooks talk about local
gangs, about on the same level as what you read in the Seattle
Sourcebook.

Check out the Underworld Sourcebook ... it has some more information ... about
some of the more interesting gangs in the nation ... in our home game someone
dealt with the Spiders and we fleshed them out some more ...

As for other gangs ... have fun and make some of them up as you go ...

Oh...I also need a gang that has turf in the downtown seattle area. One
that would be harassing some local pawn shop for protection money. I guess
most gangs ask for protection money...but I don't have any books on me with
gangs in them. Hell two gangs would be better...I could have the other
gang show up and a big war start up with the character in the middle of it
all. :)

If you're just looking for a piddly gang, make it up
yourself...that's usually the easiest way. The gangs
in the SR books are pretty unique in their outlook,
modus operandi (sp?), etc. IMO, they should be used
differently than the plainer gangs.
But, if that's exactly what you're looking for,
e-mail me and I'll give you a quick rundown of the
gangs in the SR companion.

Ahh is that the book with gangs in it? Well I have that book at home so I
will wait to answer my players email...IF he even ask what gang it might
be. Thanks for the info on where to find them.

No prob. Seems to me that the SR Companion isn't
the only place to find gangs, as I've seen many
mentioned that aren't in it (the only example I can
think of are the Ancients). So there's other gang
material out there, but I don't know quite where...
Sprawl Sites maybe, or some adventures? The Seattle
book would have them I assume, but I've never seen it,
so...

I don't know about Sprawl Sites, but I kinda doubt it.

Shadowrun Companion has details for three or four (or thereabouts)
gangs.

Underworld Sourcebook has details for another five or so gangs,
including a bit on the local chapter of the Cutters and, possibly, the
Ancients - although I'm not so sure about the ancients.

Seattle has names, colours, predominant races and territories for a
number of gangs. It also has a tiny bit of blurb about some of the
gangs. Note that the Spike Wheels are now known as the Spikes (see the
description of the Spikes gang in the Companion) and that the Silent P's
no longer exist (see the description of the Spikes gang in the
Companion). There are some other changes from then to now, so if a gang
has an updated description in the Underworld Sourcebook or the
Companion, use that description (that includes the Cutters, the Spikes,
the Halloweeners and the Red Hot Nukes at the very least).

Apart from that, I don't think gangs are really dealt with anywhere
else, except for being mentioned in passing, or appearing as a foil in
novels. You'd really have to dig through the sourcebooks to find
mentions of any others. The First Nation(s?) is an Amerindian street
gang mentioned in a Nigel Findley novel. They're also mentioned later on
in a sourcebook and it seems they've grown up from those days. The
Merlyns are a wizgang that's almost completely a mob operation these
days (see the Mob War sourcebook). Ummm...can't think of any others
offhand.

Of course, like someone already said, making them up is a good fallback.
Rabid, my physad, has a gang leader contact - Bobby Blade of the Blood
Razors. Cool name, huh? :)
