"Well, it's the first day of the 2064 campaign season,
and a new party has just announced their candidate for President,
a Mr. Vladimir Tepid."
"Tepes. Vlad Tepes. Not Tepid."
"Right, right. So, Mr. Tepid..."
"Tepes."
"...what is the symbol of your party?"
"We had a few problems with the symbol. Some wanted the
wolf, but that, I feel, implies that we care more about =

environmental issues than about... people. So, eventually, we
chose the vampire bat."
"Ooh, that's neat. Speaking of choosing symbols, I hear
your national convention was quite an occasion?"
"Oh yes. People flying here and there, bringing the...
issues... into the light, blood in the aisles..."
"Blood in the aisles. That's a nice metaphor, Mr. Tepid."
"It's Tepes. And I wasn't speaking metaphorically."

I'll be at GenCon, and I'm planning on Origins.
GenCon is fun, but I hope that they put up some room dividers in
the gaming halls this year... the noise level in '98 was atrocious.
I also hope the elevators are working this year. Last year, the
bloody things were malfunctioning half the time, and the other
half the workmen were busy fixing them.

I couldn't agree more. My biggest complaint about GenCon. I couldn't
even hear the GM in one game I was playing.
Or pipe some white noise into the place. It is amazing what that can
do.

The convention center had recently been opened, so they had some bugs
to work out. Hopefully, they'll have them all taken care this year.

either one will suffice, though it's sometimes fun to have both running
around... ;)

He he. Funny. Except Tepes is pronounced "Zepesh."

I have it on good authority from some Hungarian friends of mine that
"Tepes" is also a common pronunciation.
