Ok, we've talked a bit about it, but here's the FULL* story of what went on
at the Gen Con tourney. Enjoy.

* At least as much as my befuddled and addled mind can remember. Everyone
involved, please feel free to correct this or fill in the blanks...

BTW: If you aren't your groups GM, and your GM is on this list, check with
him before reading this, or else I'll send Tinner to your house in a kilt!
This is especially true for players in: Dvixen's, Loki's, Bookworm's, Mike
Paff's, or My games...

OK, that's enough of those...

First: The Cast of Character!

GM's

Granite -- He ran the first round for us.

Jeff Jones -- The OTHER big bald guy there. He's more of a troll than an
Ork, I think. He ran Round 2.

Bitrunner -- Ran the thrid and final round.

PLAYERS

Bull -- Playing a female Ork Remote Rigger named RC. Had a phobia of Fire
and spent most of the tourney flying the drones.

Loki -- Playing a Buffed out Female Sammy named CrapGame. Had a whole
passel of flaws, including Uncouth and Gambling Addiction. Was also
heavily modified and could puta troll to shame. Was played like a Slutty
and Flirtatious Southern Bell. :]

Caric -- Played a Cajun Dwarven Mage who's named escapes me. He had some
healing spells, Vehicle masking, and little else useful...;]

Dvixen -- Played a Male Rigger named Silver-something, or something close.
I can't think of this name off the top of my head either... She drove the
truck most of the time.

Buck -- Played the charasmatic Phys-Ad with Distance Strike and Killing
Hand. Not sure of his name either.

Mike Paffe -- Played an Electronics Warfare specialist. had fun Jamming
signals and rewiring the microwave transmitter! :]

THE EQ

We had access to A Beachcraft Hovervehicle outfitted with Twin machine
Guns, a Wadjina with missiles and a machine gun, and a Scouter Drone.

ROUND ONE

We started out getting some info and getting told what the run was.
basically, we had to drive from DC to Seattle as quick as possible. We
were free to use any means necessary, but were told that we weren't to make
the corps who were sponsering us look bad. We were sponsored by Renraku.

We started off easily enough, but partway outside DC, we got pulled over by
Lone Star for "inspection". Buck managed to smooth talk us out of that
with a bit of a bribe, and we continues on.

After a short while, we ran into probs with another Cannonballer (An Azzie
vehicle, I think). They launched their Wadjina and were gonna missile it.
Caric, thinking that the missiles would be Heat Guided, fired a flare gun
at it, hoping to draw off the missile. He rolled so well though, that he
ended up shooting dow the Wadjina. It crashed very near us and knocked out
one of our Hover Rotors. Loki then fired a few bursts into the windshield
of the Azzies vehicle and sent the Hovercraft off the road and put an end
to their racing days...

We had to stop in a small town in Ohio to try and make repairs, as we were
losing major time cause of the broken rotor. The town ended up being some
sort of odd Anti-Tech Amish town, with a slightly insane Preacher as their
leader. Loki and the others went to find another vehicle, which someone
mentioned might be found in a barn outside town, while Dvixen and I pulled
the old rotor off to fix it.

While Loki, Caric, and Co. were looking for the barn, they encountered a
Piasma, and made short work of it. They then found an abandoned and
hidden Hovercraft, and managed to salvage a rotor. It was smaller than
ours, but it would be better than working with a broken one.

Wile we fixed this, the town decided to mob us and drive us out, led by the
preacher and holding the typical Mob mentality Torches. Deciding that we
didn;t like this, especially my character who's afraid of fire, we fired
several bursts from the guns over their heads. We almost fired INTO them,
but decided against that at the last minute...

After that, we had to blast our way past a Gang Blockade in Chicago, then
we pulled into the stop pint safe and sound, if a little battered and
tired. We got to sleep for the night, and first thing in the morning,
headed for Denver...

TO BE CONTINUED...

((Man, this ended up longer than I expected... I'll do up round 2
tomorrow.:))

Microwaves are our friends! :-) The character's name was Think Tank, due to
all of the Headware stuffed into his cyberskull. He was the group's
Electronics Warfare Operator, and possibly involved in the
design/customization
of the Beachcraft.

Very quickly masked as an Amalgamated(?) Media vehicle by our friendly
neighborhood mage (the media corp were also taking part in the race).

We were given gentle reminders not to look bad by the occasional presence of
Amalgamated surveillance drones. We did get some use out of the of the media,
I was able to tap into their satellite feed and get some info on the
status of the race.

The media got a nice view of this fight, IIRC.

Again, the media was watching, so don't make the corp look bad. I MAY have
been jamming that drone, but I can't remember for certain.

Actually, I think we paid the toll like nice little wage-slaves. Then
our driver "accidentally" bumped their barricade and collapsed it,
after which, she proceeded to sideswipe the gang's bikes (either that,
or the bikes got shot up, I'm not certain). Either way, there wasn't
much, if any, pursuit.

Why, they were pelted playfully by high velocity lead. I'm a woman of
the 50's and prefer to do the chasing, rather than be chased, if you
know what I mean.

Bah. You pull it off. The mage can help, since he tried to shoot our own
vehicle.

QS went with the 'scouts', so he'd be able to tell tehm what to bring back.
The piasma is 'the musky smell coming from inside the gas station' that made
QS stop, and take a few steps back. Brave he may be, but stupid he ain't. ;)

Heh. You should send it to the lot fo the other players for their input. ;)
Then the list won't get us calling each other twits for forgetting things.

Congrats, Loki, you've just figured out how to transmit sound through

Aristotle. (Remember, CrapGame twisted the apple stem and it came out
saying her lover's name started with letter A? :o)

Bumper sticker read - "If this van's Renrakin' don't come a knockin'."
Another feminine touch by CrapGame.

Aristotle Valentin, Elf Phys-Ad. I actually got more use out of my
Emotion Read power than the Distance Strike/Killing Hand - although that
combo did come in handy against that fire elemental.

Also had a bit of bioware, including a synaptic accelerator. To give you
some idea of the power levels here, I had an initiative of 8+2d6 and
spent a lot of time (impatiently) waiting for my initiative point to come
up, even with a high roll.

The group scouting for parts was Crap Game (Loki), Quicksilver (Dvixen),
and Aristotle (me). The quote on my name placard came from this scene -
GRANITE was acting out the Piasma's various wounds as Crap Game put burst
after burst of Savalette into it. I was getting very impatient at this
point, waiting for my turn to shoot, and kept interrupting GRANITE's
performance. When Bull asked me what the excitement was, I proclaimed "I
want to kill it before it's dead!".

Dvixen called me
>Mr personality. (capitalization intentional ;)

Apparently, the personality profiles for the characters were lost and we
sort of had to make up our own from the stats on the character sheets.
Elf, Charisma 8, Cultured Pheromones, Fearless, Leadership-6,
Negotiation-5, Emotion Read, etc. My take on this was that I was the
designated group leader and took it upon myself to take command. This
didn't sit particularly well with the other characters, particularly one
independent-minded rigger. It didn't help that I gave him an ego to
match everyone else's initiative rating.

I think the best part of the game was the character interaction, and
between Quicksilver's indignation and Crap Game's lustful advances, this
character was a lot fun.

No kidding. These were FASA designed characters of a hi-power level
(probably to assure some life-expectancy for the three-day
tournament). As CrapGame I was rolling a 19+4d6 initiative, assuring
me usually a 32 or 33. I'll be the first to admit she was a M-word
designed character, but that wasn't anywhere in the ballpark of where
I was having the most fun in playing her. ;o)

<CrapGame>

Now honey, you make it sound like I was hoggin' the lime-light.
T'wasn't that at all. I was just using what God an' the Corp gave me.
Plus, I wanted to take care of that little bear before it had a chance
to hurt something on you that we might find usefull later on. *WINK*

Ditto that. Once the roll for the apple stem came up with the letter A
(A = Aristotle) I just couldn't see this character letting Buck's off
the hook in anyway resembling easy.
