I've always wanted to organize a GenCON run for our list, however I
always remember after it's too late.

Well, is anybody up for planning a GenCON bash for next summer (August
'96). Basically, get the room in the same hotem and plan for a gathering
or two?

If we can get a few, we could probably do it fairly inexpensively
(comparitively).

I'd like to, but it'll be months until I know whether I can or
not, especially since many of my co-workers are gaming geeks (imagine how
annoyed all our users would be if they call technical support and get a
message saying "We're sorry, but support is closed for two weeks while our
technical staff goes to a role-playing convention.")

I would like to do something like this. Maybe if I start saving up now
I'll have the money bye then (and I'll even have that GC Generator done
by then ;-)

I would be intersted in going. I've never gone. How much does it usually cost.

well I just returned from GenCon 95
and just to let you know... I had tons of fun.
If we wanted to play shadowrun we should prob. set up
our own games because all but 2 games were sold out/full
before the con started. (including SR, SR2 and SR2 Fasa)
*very hard to get to play*

costs:
plane fare aprox: $360.00 for me. (SanDiego California)
room rate: 3-4 people in room. for wed-sunday
$120.00
Con cost: $40.00 + $2-$5 per game average games 9 = $18-$20
Food: anywhere from $5-$40/meal
my average was about $250.00 for all meals including
booze. *and I didn't wake up till 1:00pm one day*
*also ate at Maters very nice $40 meal-very worth it*
Dealer room: allow for spending money for new products and
toys from Fasa and other dealers.

Grand total
aprox: $790.00
77% of the bill is travel and food.
my first year *when I was poor* I only spent about $450.00

Hope this gives you a good Idea
Thanks
Gary C.
