Since I got a book in the mail about this con today, I thought I'd share
it with the list. It's probably of interest to listmembers in the Benelux
and northern France; for others, it's probably too far away unless you
happen to be in the area.

On 31 July and 1 August this year, the second GenCon Benelux will be held
in Antwerp, Belgium, to be precise in the Bouwcentrum not too far from the
city center and close to the motorway (take exit 5 to Wilrijk from the
Ring and you'll probably spot the Holiday Inn, which is next to the
Bouwcentrum). Tickets are 380 Belgian Francs or 20 Dutch guilders for one
day, or 600 BEF/32.50 guilders for a two-day pass. Two-day passes with
hotel accomodation are also available, and RPGA or DCI Legend members get
a discount.

For more info, I suggest contacting the organizers:

From Belgium: Intrafin, intrafinteam@********.be or 02/722 99 94
From the Netherlands: PS Games, pepcomic@***.nl or 0492-538487
From the rest of the world: WotC, custserv@*******.be or +32 70 233 277

If you go, take my advice and don't expect too much -- last year's event
(in Tiel, the Netherlands) was not really a disappointment, but not
precisely a highlight of the convention season either. The booklet's claim
of "Everything you ever played, everything you ever wanted to play, and
much more" is a _slight_ exaggeration :) Still, I would go myself, as I
live only about an hour away, but since I'll be in Washington D.C. at that
time, the trip becomes a bit too long...

Anyway, there is one Shadowrun event scheduled: an adventure for six
players titled "A Cascade Crowning," described as "Your team has been
called to a meeting. You have no idea what to expect, at least not yet..."
This describes 99.9% of all shadowruns, unfortunately. Also, the fact that
it runs from 20:00 to 24:00 hours on Saturday probably means only those
who are there for more than one day will get to play.

Other events are the usual stuff: AD&D, M:TG, Vampire LARP, WH40K,
Roborally, etc. plus a few unexpected things like On The Edge, Netrunner,
and Doomtown. Some "guests of honor" will be there as well, but they're
mostly people you've probably never heard of until you read the text in
the book and think "Admiral Ozzel didn't wear glasses, did he...?" Of
Shadowrun interest here is only Tony Szczudlo, if you like his style of
artwork.
