======================Cut from a previous post=======================
They are currently working on an entire book detailing corporate
security. This one could be released in '95, and it sounds positively EVIL.
THe guy who's doing it works for the Feds now, and he's got good sources. When
this comes out, the Running community is going to be VERY unhappy. I believe
this will also include some info on magical security.

yes, it will include magical security...i talked with mike colton after
one of the seminars and he explained to me about the product and what it
will include...
=================================================================

Okay...So what does it include? Please elaborate...

well, i didnt want to go into it...i dont know how much mike wants to let
out in advance, but i'll say this:

types of security:

physical: this includes the stuff like fences, cameras, etc...
personal: the guards (and critters, if any)
magical: wards, elementals, etc...

one of the examples he gave during the seminar was the concept of having
an LMG co mounted with a security camera...with stun rounds, of course :)

some of the stuff mike talked about was the fact that security guards
would be oriented to using stun weapons on any unauthorized persons...the
task would be to capture them and question them...but if the unauthorized
persons were to seriously maim or kill a guard, then all bets are off and
the guards will pull the heavy stuff...

another thing would be that security would be heavier on the outside of a
facility and less on the inside, since heavy security inside would serve
to impede the smooth flow of getting the job done for those that worked
there...

...mostly all common sense stuff...

and for those that were not at the seminar, mike's qualifications for
writing this sourcebook is that he works as a security management person...

I thought something like this was mentioned in NAGRL. From memory, I thought
there was discussion there on various security measures.

I'm starting to wonder whether this book is going to be worth it.

It depends on the site and the paranoia of the management involved - or so it
seems from what I've seen in RL.

well, considering that the section you are addressing was only a small
part of the book, and this will be an entire sourcebook, i would say that
the NAGRL only gave a cursory examination of the situation...the
sourcebook will go into more depth...i did not want to give other examples
or tidbits without clearing it with mike, but i will talk to him next week
when i get back from vacation and see if he wants to share any insights on
the new book....

it is, of course, always your choice whether or not you buy a book...

as far as your thoughts on the site and paranoia of the management
determine the security, i can only say that the government, who is
probably the most paranoid of all, works just as i posed...the security is
higher outside the facility...once you get inside, there is very
little...i work for the DOD, so believe me, i know...also, my father used
to work with AT&T, and they're security was all external...about the only
thing they did inside was computer passwords and such...much the same for
a lot of the other corporations i've seen...the idea here is that if you
get through the outer security to the inside, then you must belong there
and its time to go to work...you wouldnt get much work done if everytime
you left your office to go to the bathroom down the hall, you had to pass
through a metal detector, check a pass with a guard, enter a PIN code a/o
palmprint identification, answer three questions about your personal life,
etc....it would be even worse to go down two or three floors to the
cafeteria to eat lunch!!! :)
