Someone mentioned GenCon UK,
Could someone please tell me when it is, where it is and how do you

Thanks in advance

Take a look at http://rpga.ukonline.co.uk/genconuk00/ Unfortunately, last
time I looked there was no booking information yet, but I hope that will
be put up soon...

AFAIK there's going to be at least one organized SR game, unlike last year
when the only SR games that I could find where the two I ran myself...

Though I'm not from the UK, I probably will be, provided I get off my ass
and book a way across the North Sea sometime soon :)

I doubt they'll be there. Last year, FASA sent Randall Bills and Tim Brown,
but both times I've been to GCUK I've not seen any FanPro reps.

Fanpro's own convention, the RatCon, is from 25 to 26 of august. Could be a
reason ;)

Now that I've finally gotten round to booking passage to the UK, I can
definitely say that I'll be at GenCon UK (http://www.genconuk.com) this
year. Which leaves me wondering who from this list is going to be there as
well?

Unless it works vastly different from the main Gen Con, then yes, you can do this. It's
usually a tad more expensive, but only by a few bucks.

It was last year, and it's certainly what I'm going to do. Judging by the
web site it looks to be more like the default now, maybe because they don't
offer on-site accomodation that you paid for along with your ticket tot he
con.

And the advantage here is that you don't get to wait in a line anywhere near
as long as in the US :)

After 19:00, yes, but other than that I'll be busy for most of Saturday... But
there's a solution: go sign up for Paranoia at 15:00, and hope you get me as GM :)

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, I'll be "free" between 14:00 and 15:00, too,
but I'll probably have to spend much of that time reading an adventure.
Still, I could make a short appearance :)

Still haven't had mine back yet but I'm due to be there 'til Saturday
afternoon... maybe early evening if my money lasts long enough on the trade
hall wander.

<grumble>
the damn Pre-reg muppets only sent me my reg stuff at the weekend, so by
the time I got to the website, all the slots are taken up. I'm going to
be making a complaint when I get there; I sent my pre-reg form in weeks
previously. Its amlsot like there's a heriachy of people that they'll
process;n I mean, whats the use of Pre-reg if it only happens 4 days
before the event, dammit?
</grumble>

Since thats the only time Gurth is around, and I probably wont be there at
7pm :-( How about meeting up in the entrance hall (like last time for
those who were there) for 14:15 on the saturday?
If people want to meet up beforehand to get a game going (I'm dying to run a
(can I say this on this list? ;-) Savage Worlds game, so I'd be happy to
meet up with interested parties a couple of hours earlier and run through it)
that sounds like a plan, too...

The whole organization is a mess every year, but for some reason they've been
getting away with it for ten years or so...

Fine by me, though I expect people to be walking past each other again without even
realizing it (just like last year :)

I wish I could make it, but that'll probably only be if I'm, for some reason, not
needed for the stuff I volunteered for.

Damn! Ruth? You still on the list & going? Dont tell me I'm the only one
from ShadowRN going.. and here was I thinking that the holiday weekend
would cause troubles!

What are the RPG problems, if you dont mind my asking? I know they
changed the rules for people running demo's so you dont get the same
benifits as before but...

I don't know the details of it (all I got was third-hand information from a
friend of mine who, I think, followed the discussions about this on some
forum) but as I understand it, the basics of it is that last year, most of
the people behind RPGA UK left that and set up an alternative organization,
Raven. Raven was responsible for the RPG section of GCUK last year, but
since then, it appears there has been some kind of falling-out between them
and WotC (who have organized GCUK for the last few years). Now I also don't
know the exact consequences of this, but the impression I got is that it's
a whole big mess ATM, mainly with the RPG side of the con. If you were to
go there solely for the CCGs, I doubt you'd notice anything of this, though.
