You can just keep that chip from Dreamchipper in production. I
mean who ever has only one copy of something?

I didn't mean Khan him, self: Ijust meant a very powerful asian warlord
who depended less on technology and more on relations with the huge mass
of peasents (and probably had some stiff mojo) would be pretty cool.
Aisia is not fully flesshed out yet, but suposedy a lot of it IS warlord
territory- it would be cool if the biggest of them all was'nt some uber
techno nuclear power, but a guy who could send 500,000 troops on
horseback in to just flatten any populace that opposed him. AQrchaic, I
know, but still useful in someparts of the world, especially if you can
use magic to protect them from modern weapons.
Although I like the free spirit idea- a "horde" could be a variation on
the "wild hunt" of the Tir.

Well... I am not a military man, but in WW2, when the German forces
attacked Poland, a couple of tanks (IIRC less then 10) destroyed a
whole (?groups size? Batallion?) of cavilery... er... cavelery...
horsemen.

For the magic aspect: Military will have magicians too (check 'Just
Compensation', Robert N. Charrette, or 'Burning Bright', Tom Dowd for
examples). And they'll have chemical, biological, and possibly nuclear
weapons (great to be used against large bodies of men), too. Or
Thorshots, even... "Sure you have a bullet barrier up. But this piece
of rock weights 2.95 tons after having passed the athmosphere, and
moves at <ridiculous high speed I don't dare to guess>. What did you
say the level of your barrier was? Higher then 1,000?" *EGMG*

Cavalry.

World War I would serve better as an example -- tacticians didn't
understand the effects of well-placed and -served machineguns; the result
was predictable, really. A modern-day or SR Ghengis Kahn would face much
the same consequences, provided the enemy his "troops" are charging are
well-prepared for the coming attack and don't hesitate to fire.

One of the points with a modern time 'Ghengis Kahn' would probably be
that he is also tactically smart. Real smart. In addition to having
charisma enough to get thousands to sacrifice themselves for him.
That is the dangerous combination. Not just one or the other. Those
who think it took no tactical skill to conquer an area from china to
europe should think a bit about the implications.
