Hello everyone!

One thing that everyone should keep in mind is the possibility that a 21th
century
Genghis Khan -a military genius if there were one- would use every trick in
the book to conquer... he would not limit himself to cavalry! :-)

There is a lot of military equipment in central Asia from all the wars that
were fought there (Afghanistan, Iran-Iraq, and others that could come). Not
to forget that the EuroWars kept on for a while there while it quieted down
in Europe.
So warlords would not be limited to cavalry, though one could argue that
equipment available would be quite old (USSR and PRC, mainly), and not very
serviceable due to disrepair and lack of spare parts. Even with the use of
magic, vehicles and armored vehicles are a lot more efficient than horses
for troop deployment, and would be much prefered, though horses would be
used due to the lack of the former, but mostly for logistics (as in WWII by
the Germans).

Do not forget that vehicles have another advantage over horses: they're
inherently resistant to magic, and usually do not allow LOS from the
exterior to the passengers, so mages and shamans and other magic-users tp
target them (they must target the vehicles, far more difficult, TN-wise).

Well, i enjoyed reading this thread, and did not want to kill the fun, but
cavalry charges are history, AFAIC. :-)

The idea of an unifier of the Asian nomads is very good for a SR master plot
in Asia. But don't make the horse nomads orks, please... i've read enough on
ork scorchers already in Earthdawn! :-)
