Here's what I really want to know as far as GI JOE in SR.
Never mind putting the JOE team in the game. I want the SR PC's as action
figures!!

Call me sick, but I would LOVE to have a Harlequin toy, maybe with some
ritual material accessories! Or even a summoned spirit packaged with him!

And they could do the exploding Dunkelzhan action figure! With real
political explosion action!

And the Space Needle Playset!

And the Ghost/Dodger/Sally Tsung triple action pack!

OOOhhhhh! The possibilities are ENDLESS!!

Seriously though, FASA has done very little marketing of SR. Aside from the
SNES and SEGA video games, I can't think of anything else.

Anyone else out there like to see a SERIOUS animated SR cartoon series? Or
dare I hope Action figures?

(Confession - I swiped my kid brother's GI JOE's and a small screwdriver,
and made my own Shadowrunner action figures - It worked pretty well, but I'd
still like to see an "OFFICIAL" line . . .must be the collector in me :-))

Well, there's the novels (they're not published by FASA but by ROC Books,
owned by Penguin), T-shirts, and embroidered shirts, hats, sweatshirts,
and jackets. Not to mention the 25 mm figures, although of course they're
aimed at roleplayers, not the general public. (Come to think of it, who
but SR players buys SR novels anyway?)

No and no on both counts. I've seen the BattleTech show (only because I
wanted to see what they'd made of it) and it sucks! An SR cartoon would be
along the same lines as all the other cartoons: good guys (the runners)
vs. the bad guys (the corps, Humanis members, etc.) without anyone getting
killed or wounded or whatever, because hey, it's a kids' show isn't it? I
don't want to see any SR show unless it's a *serious* attempt to
(re)create the sixth world.

Apparently quite a few people. These little buggers come in at the top of
the genre market rather often! There's got to be someone else reading this
stuff other than SR players.

That's what I meant by a SERIOUS cartoon. Something along the lines of
Japanese Anime.
Maybe done ala Akira, or Golog 13 (Who incidently would make a great
Shadowrunner)
If you havent seen these flick, you should take a peek at them, and then
ponder a SR cartoon done in that style.

If they gave it to the same people that do WB's Batman or

I agree, I don't think it would HAVE to be terribly violent to be good, just
serious. I would also nominate the people who did the Savage Dragon cartoon
on USA... they did a good job of taking a violent comic book series with
plenty of blood, half nakkid chicks and swearing, and managed to clean it up
but stay faithful to the action and story of the comics.

If they did do a cartoon, though, I would highly recommend FASA keep
creative control... That's why these things turn out so lame... The
creators don't work with the cartoonists...:)

Personally, I'd like to see Shadowrun in HBO movies. HBO does an
excellent job and I'd like to see them move into the science fiction
genre.

Don't know if I'd be into the Action Figures, but I think I'd go for a
animated series of full-length animated move.

I've heard rumors of FASA hitting th silver screen. Truth to this?

My only reservation would be FASA releasing any cartoon or film is kind
of ruling on how certain items/rules/characters should be played or
viewed and isn't the ambiguity part of the RPG universe?

This would be cool..The BT cartoons would be better if they had better
artwork..I have a tape of the test animation they did before they did the
series..Good doesn't even get close to disribing the quality of what they had
on the first part of the tape..It was beyond the quality of Babylon 5 in
quality..The mechs looked REAL..There was some talk of using this animation
in a live action movie..Anyway they had to tone down to better fit it with
the normal [cartoon] animation..I would have liked it better if they went
with the better stuff and went for a ReBoot sort of animation..Anyway I get
lost wandering around my point..I would like to see something like this
too..in the spirit/quality of Akira..But not the Anima style..The BIG eyes
and fly away hair REALLY gets on my nerves..ANd there does NOT have to be a
couple of STUPID characters that are poorly drawn who's sole purpose is comic
relief..AArgh!!!
>

I would like this even MORE..The tech is here to do all the Meta types and
magic and Cyberspace..And make it look like it is supposed to..BUT..If they
do this they will HAVE to spend enough time/money on the computer
graphics..otherwise you get a stinker like "Species" A really cool movie with
everything it takes to make it in the big time..EXCEPT when they start
showing the LAME CARTOON of a monster..I laughed..H#ll they would have been
better off with a guy in a rubber suit..At least then it would have looked
like it was actually in the scene..Anyway..IF is done like they really mean
it they could make the big time..And the path has been paved by movies like
"Hackers", " Jonny Mneumonic", "Tek Wars", and the like that
main streamers
would be able to accept the concept with little adjustment..

Keep it simple and basic... The movie wouldn't have to be about Dunk and
Harley and the gang, just about Shadowrunning... As long as it's faithful
to the feel of the game...:)

Personally I recommend Ghost in the Machine as a good S/R genre
japanimation. http://www.polygram.com/manga/

Oh yeah, I saw that not long ago... Very good flick.

I've seen a lot of cyberpunk-genre movies, but nothing yet with Shadowrun's

Nobody said anything about terrible violence :) However, I wouldn't want
things like you see in those kids' cartoons, where the whole screen is red
from the laser bolts, and all that gets hit is a robot, out of 100 enemies
walking into the hail of fire.

I don't want cleaned up versions of things, or "Parental advisory" stickers
on them -- I think they're just pathetic. I'd want an SR cartoon or movie
or whatever to be as the SR world is portrayed in the novels and
sourcebooks.

Is this the same rumor that was flying around 2 1/2 years ago, or a new
one? Back then, there was talk of a BattleTech movie, which eventually
turned out to be the cartoon I think.

That would definitely suck. Like what they did to TMNT. A great comic

to your local barber..NOT a stylist..she will only tell you it looks
good..so she can charge you
more for doing less..I mean a real barber with a red and white pole out
front and some old
geezer with white hair pushing the scissors and puts that smelly blue
stuff in your hair when he's
done..As for the eyes..I hear some females like that sort of thing [that
of course would be a good
thing]..If you don't find any females that like them I suppose you could
pick up some of those big
clunky visors to cover them..

*cringe* It's animation, not a cartoon... Matter of personal preference,
but it brings to mind a cross between Riding Bean and the Road Runner...

I agree there - GitM is *highly* recommended (hey, even Siskel & Ebert
liked it!).

I'd also suggest Battle Angel Alita (going by english titles), Venus Wars,
Riding Bean (for a rigger's perspective), and especially Armitage III.

be it...what a way to go! *grin*
