Hi you all,

I don't know how it's exactly in MiTS written (I have to look that up)
but in SR2 it was pretty clear how sight in astral space works:

You don't see with your eyes but - as Gurth mentioned - with a
kind of sixth sense. For simplicity it origin is located 'where the
eyes of the magician are'. It has the same angle of view (no 360
degree). You don't need your physical eyes to look into the astral.
If you're a mage without eyes for whatever reasons you can still
use your astral sight (that's why Blindness is only a 2 point flaw for
sorcerers in the companion).
What the term 'normal sight' means is that unless there are astral
exceptions like FAB, spirits or masked auras or whatever you can
think of the vision in astral space is normal. That means that you
can see all things that you can in the physical world. You can see
through the air, a little bit worse through water. You can see
through normal glass but you can't see through walls. It's for
simplier game mechanics and for not having too much confusion
during a game (hey it's complex enough since I write this letter).
So you can't see through darkened glass and through mirrors.
Because it's not a physical world mirrors don't reflect in the astral
(IMHO) but that could be discussed. More important IR, UV and X-
Ray has no importance in the astral space. Therefore and because
you don't look with your physical eyes into the astral cybernetics
have no influence on the astral sight. Light modifiers do not apply
for light is directly connected to life and not to electro-magnetic
waves.

All just MHO

PS: Since I'm not in the Mailling list and I'm only browsing the log-
files you have to contact my privately if you want to discuss things
with me further.
