Short of a full assult or having a Juggernaut step on it, how else can I
take a Banshee (or other such nasty toys) away from my runner's
grubby paws? I need some new ideas(got writers block). Yes, I have
used dragons(Lofwyr put them in the original situation), the all out
assult, and running out of gas. I like to torment them by putting neat
toys in their possesion and then take them away. Somehow they
haven't learned yet...

Many people run the shadows, praying that whatever gods they worship will smile upon them.
I waltz through shadows with my gods, and I lead!

Have a rumors spread about them having it, then have another Shadow Team steal
it!!

Who wouldn't want to steal it (have the other team search for bugs too)

Have someone steal it? Now that would get some major attention. The
gov'ment might be able to track down who got it....

If it's causing major problems to Corps or the (remnants of the)
government authorities, then they have ample manpower and firepower.

They'd hunt it down and take them down. Surely you can picture
the item being raised during a weekly meeting at a Corp? Take it
from there.

How do you hide in the shadows in a Banshee? Remember, the
shadow runners exist because becoming too noticeable is a quick
way to becoming too dead.

(about the runner banshee)

Banshee's don't grow on trees and any squatter can tell you where they
saw the banshee park in Redmond. sned it a hit squad from a corp or,
like aforementioned, another shadowrun team.

Personally, I have a suped up bison (the M Bison) that is a highly
visible target. I only use it when a) we're in the boondocks or b)
running versus minor players like two-bit gangs or doing some protection
work. never for any blatantly illegal operations. (Squatter with an
extra 100 nuyen: Yeah, I saw a big bison with an M painted on the side
leave the building just before it blew up.)

Well, if I remember right, the Banshee is a military vehicle. And if there is
one consistent thing about military vehicles that I know, it's that there is
_always_ something going wrong with them somewhere, somehow.

Foe example, just have a small fuse blow out. If the runners do not have
a) a tech manual for the Banshee
b) proper electronic diagnostic/repair equipment
c) a spare fuse (military item number ARM-265-3470-345-6789-111, currently
a classified item, cost to the military is 5000Y per fuse)
then that should fix the problem :-)

P.S. - The above comments directed at the military are to be taken with a
grain of salt. I do _not_ want this toi
to start an argument about wether military stuff is crappy, expensive, etc.
So chill out.

Why not steal it? Have a lone rigger take it away from them!
Make him have the state-of-the-art in shadow stuff(dmso + sleep
poison, Neuro Stun VIII gas or an MP Laser III). Let him rig some
kind of remote on the Banshee so he could override the controls
when it will be critical for the PCs.

Stephan

Once, I gave my runners a letter with dmso and some kind of
something, they all got infected but one. He had blood filters.

How are the runners fixed up for regular maintenance on a combat vehicle, such
as a Banshee? Do any of them have B/R skills?

Even if they do, some vehicles just break down and have to be scrapped... ;)

Try destroying it. A ripple of 30 rockets or so can destroy just about
anything(and anything around it for a 2 block radius or so). Remember
that in shadowrun's messed up combat system, that rocket damage is
CUMULATIVE, so a ripple of 30 rockets doing 3D damage a piece would be
doing roundabout 90 multiple-multiple D damage.

In regards to the Banshee problem:
What is this stuff about 30-rocket ripples, etc? I mean, what corp, or
even less likely, government, has the nuts to say, "Oh, yeah, we just blitzed
a two block radius." I mean, the legal implications are staggering. Sure,
your average slag-on-the-street may get drek for representation, but wouldn't
the Corp Court be a tad displeased? It seems to me that most corps are
reported to like a low profile in the
"we just blew up your town" department, so the ideas about a fuse blowing or a
team stealing it are the more likely scenarios.
One more comment, not to be taken personally--I used to play in an AD&D
campaign in which the DM was fond of letting us get something cool, and never
failed to strip it at the earliest convenience. Pretty soon there was a major
drop-off in interest in his campaign--you see, there is little incentive to
spend 4-6 hours getting a cool item if you know damn well it will only be gone
in another 2. Don't get me wrong, tweaking the PC's every so often is a good
thing, so that they don't get too cocky, but making it the norm is less than
rewarding (for the players, anyway).

That sounds way too contrived to me...like when a friends' younger
brother (who thinks he plays Shadowrun but will _never_ understand the
attitude of a good gamer) asked us if a force wall would smash up the
PC's vehicle but throw them free, because he didn't want them to have the
vehicle any more.
How 'bout this: next time they get out of the vehicle in a seedy
part of town, a bunch of different gangs decided to join forces and steal
it. The PC's would have to get through a whole bunch of gangers just to
get back to their vehicle and defend it.
And if you've got a character who likes grenades....

Actually, if you REALLY want to be twisted have Lone Star confiscate it.
Lets face it, a Banshee is a military vehicle, and is illegalfor a civ
to own one in just about every country in the world. And you have to
admit, a banshee IS sort of distinctive. I mean, how can you hide it??
Now Lone Star would just LOVE to have another of these baby's on their
hands. What would probably happen is, since the players have probably
already taken it out for a, "test drive", it is most likely that someone
has seen it, and can make the association. Oops, guess what, he's a Lone
Star stoolie. Lone Star sends in a crack SWAT team(hey, they have a
BANSHEE, who knows what other type of heavy hitting hardware they may
own??) at a time when the runners are just lounging around. They get
arrested, lose the Banshee, and pray to god they don't lose everything
else. You could either send them to jail(interesting role playing
experience), or have them make a run for Lone Star(lets face it, lone
star troops are mainly Thugs, not subtle enough to do a real shadowrun)
say on some corp that they know is breaking the law big time, and they
need evidence. Maybe an extraction of some corp goon that has crossed
the line too many times and really slotted of Lone Star good cause they
can't touch him on corp ground, etc.

Just an idea or two.

Well... It was just an idea...

The idea of the gang is good though
