I'm starting the last section of Harlequin's Back. I guess next week I'll
have to award my poor players with the correct karma amount :)

The problem is: HB rewards TEAM karma. Am I correct? I should split the
total (about 50-60) between the six characters. This will give a total of
9-10 karma each. A misery, for all the work they'd done. OTOH, if I give 60
karma each (yuck!), maybe this would be a little over their accomplishements....

How do you fellow GMs managed this?

Please reply to the list because I actually read the postings :) I know, I'm
the Master Lurker....

I thought the karma reward was for each PC individually, like in all other
SR adventures I've read/GMed. So I handed out around 60 karma to each PC
(they were really happy with it, too :)

Paolo, my character received 72 karma points after Harley's Back. What's
the problem? Mind you, our GM substantially changed the level of
opposition in some of the scenarios (that is, upgraded it). If you feel
your players were not challenged enough, then (a) it's your fault and (b)
give less karma. Simple! There's no hard & fast rules. After all, it is
ONLY a game! ;-{)

Well i guess it is up to you but we recieved 60 some karma each, the
whole thing took a little over 2 months to do so thats not too much,
well maybe we were slow. Frankly my gm has a tendancy to give out more
karma than I think appropriate, a function of modules I guess.

So it is my understanding that the the words "TEAM karma pool" in HB are not
intended as the collective amount of dice from where fragged players can
extract their lives :) but something else. Ok, let's say that this is the
amount of PERSONAL karma award. I don't know how the other gms selected the
lethality options, but I choose the "dead only for this section" option. So,
the characters were never in real danger, and is likely (I've only the last
bridge section to play) that they will wake up safely in their bed tomorrow
morning. So, for a bad dream, 60 karma?! Yeah, they will save the world, but
at almost no price at all... Now, I have three options: 1) give them 50
karma each and go on to the next adventure (btw: super tuesday) (unlikely),
2) reduce the amount to 25-30 and go on, and 3) give them 50 karma and think
about something to continue this run... like being marked somehow and have
recurring dreams? Or something like that (recently I've finished reading
Worlds without End :)

Suggestions and large amounts of money are welcome

Having just finished running HB, my advice is give it to them (yes, all 50-60,) and then
enforce the training times.

Also, work with the players. Encourage them to put it into areas other than Combat Skills.

Sorry I can't help more.

Look at it this way, they have made an enemy with the full weight and power
of Aztechnology behind him. And he's into revenge. And he CAN summon those
horror constructs.

For more ideas, see "Who's afraid of the Darke?" in the Threats book.

That's what I am going to do.
