This is my first post to this list, so if I've done anything wrong, please
let me know.

After reading some of the most recent archives, I came across a thread
concerning gold in the 2050s.
In response to the original query, (the character needed 10kg of gold for
a baby dragon) no one mentioned the ability of free spirits to create
things like gold via the wealth power (see Grim. II for details). This
would certainly solve the problem and make for some interesting
adventures.

Secondly, the thread this query generated seemed to focus on the
availability of gold and its bearing on the international economy through
curreny values and technology. Well, it would seem that most major
corporations would have the resources to involve free spirits in their
operations, and given the wealth power, it would folow that most corps
could get at least a good portion of their gold resources from free
spirits.

going to thwap you now?

?!? <runs and grabs books>

But it's limited by the force of the spirit (which is determined by
which spirit the GM gives the true name for) and the spirit's Spirit
Energy. To get a lot you'd have to find the true name for a pretty
powerful spirit. And he needed a heck of a lot of gold. I think that
would take time that he didn't have (to keep the baby dragon alive).

The corps have to find the true names too. And the spirit can only
do that trick once every 30 days. It wouldn't be worth the
opportunity cost (time spent to find the true names of enough free
spirits and the karma spent to make it work). All IMHO.

BTW, welcome to ShadowRN :)

<FAQ plug>

Ah. But has he read the FAQ?

</FAQ plug>

And I'm sure someone will be in a bad enough mood to find a reason to thwap
him sometime in the future...

they can only do the 'create' trick every 30 days? Heh. YAT (Yet another
thing) to point out to my old GM. Right up there with you can't bypass
armour with a called shot. Where *is* my list?

Just something to throw in there. Depending on the mood of the GM, the Free
Spirit with Wealth can utilize that power as often s/he/it likes during a
month, but the total value of the material(s) produced cannot exceed a given
amount during the month (that amount being randomly determined for each lunar
cycle). We use it here, and though yes it does make the power abusive, it
also can be great fun in the right hands. One free spirit that views itself
a "rambo type" constantly uses his for an endless supply of cigars (the cheap
smelly kind), appropriate garb (okay, so this isjust Human Form) and the
nicest, LOUDEST, weapon for the moment (such as the LMG with Belt Ammo).
It's the Free Spirit Ally of a former CAS soldier, who died in a frontline
fight against Aztlan's Covert forces.
