Ah, but a the 'clocking' mechanism is used where you have a serial
processing paradigm (like pretty much all modern computers), to enable
memory to change discretely, without being caught 'mid-state'. By memory
I mean *ALL* memory, from main memory to address lines to cache - the lot.
Now, a human brain uses chemical constructs - once more, we have a valid
case for a clocking system, *however* as the human brain seems to run on
different, far more parallel based lines (no CPU, as such, but a lot of distributed
processing nodes), I would posit there's a different mechanism being used.
Ooh, and here's a thought - this would obvioulsy obviate the 'quantumisation'
effect that prevents machines, even sentient ones (AIs) from being
'awakended' - an analog device ( a living mind ) is needed to perform the ultimate
analog task of performing magic.
Sorry, this is just my opinion, but doesn't it fit *beautifully* - a lovely contrast
of machine/magic - one digital, and quantiseable, and one analog, infinite and
ultimately inexplicable with finite methods.
James.
