Sorry, but that is not true. In all recent accidents the drivers died
because of the impact of the crash (Wendlinger) or were hit by a part
of the car (Senna). None of the cars involved burned. If it burns
the fire protection suits all drivers wear offer 30 seconds of time
to distinguish the fire. This is usually enough as can be seen from the
accident of Berger a few years ago.

Actually.from what I have seen the grand prix driver's cars have much
better than Mil Spec Crash caged and such....

Maybe he got confused with Indy cars? I understand they burn a lot.
