A short question I've been pondering...

If my character were to be grappling up the side of a building in
Seattle, what would the target number be for percieving said character
(just by chance, i.e. a cop is just wondering the alley that my charcter
started his ascent from) at 1 story, 2 stories, 5 stories, at night,
during day, from alley, fromm main street...?

I would say it would depend on how well-lit the building is and how bright the
ambient light is. Silhouettes are pretty noticeable, and keep in mind that
police officers are trained for a complete field of vision (this includes
looking up so they don't get pegged by sniper fire, which is probably more of
a problem in 2055 than in 1994). I don't do the assign-target-number kind of
thing, but the fact remains, someone scaling a well-lit building at night is
basically asking to get caught. A dark building at night, depends on the angle
of movement (if you look parallel to the building face, well, bumps on a
skyscraper look a bit funny).

My advice? Reread the target number guidelines and wing it...be more concerned
about good story flow, environment, and enjoyment rather than getting all the
game mechanics just -so-. Of course, feel free to throw my advice out with
the trash, I mean, a lot of people do that anyways without having any idea what
is really being said.
