Well hey, hi Bob! Or do you want to use Winddancer as your handle? or
something else? Tell me, tell me do! :]

Anyways, everyone say hi to Bob...

<Bull pauses as tehre is an off key chorus of "Hi Bob">

Bob is a new player for my group. Lucky him, he gets to put up with my
GMing skills (Or lack thereof...:))

So first off, we'll do my duty to the list...:]

+++++ BULL-BOT ACTIVATED
+++++ AUTO GREET INITIATED

Hello there, new list-member Bob! Welcome to the Shadowrn Mailing List!

It's a great place, with good people and great discussion! hope ya like mail!

+++++ AUTO OFF TOPIC RANDOM GENERATOR v3.0 INITIATED
+++++ TOPIC #309

Who remembers Romper Room? :]

+++++ END AUTO GREET

Ok... on to another topic...

I'm about to try and start a new campign, which will be a somewhat more
munchkinny type powergame, as I will be allowing a LOT of the "Optional"
metatypes out tehre... This includes the Shaper and the Optional
Metahumans from the Companion, the Ghoul from T: UCAS, as well as my own
"Optional" creations, the Vampires, Gargoyles, Sasquatches, Wendigos, etc...

Basically, this will be very loose, and may get more than a little strange.
It may also be shortlived, as I want to try a few variations on some
standard rules, just to mix things up a bot.

Now, my question for the list is, how would you go about running such a
game?? What would you (What could you??) do with a group that may be made
of exclusivly odd-ball metatypes?

Anyways, I'm off... it's way past my bed-time and I still need to do
dishes...;]

Sounds cool.

Also cool. Don't be afraid to acknowledge a mistake and return to
the standard rules when a variation doesn't work.

First, powergaming is not munchkining. A munchkin game is a crap
game where rules are broken left and right without any thought to
roleplaying. A power game is just a game where the PCs are, well,
powerful.

Just run it like you would any other game. Let the PC flex their
muscles from time to time (i.e., show off their power). A little
less frequently confront them with an equal. And on that rare
occassion have them meet someone who outclasses them by the same
margin that the PCs outclass a regular guy.

Also, powergames work better if the plots are huge. Power up every
aspect of the game: the NPC personalities, background descriptions,
twists and turns, etc. Think of your regular game as a made for TV
movie, and the powergame as a THX surround sound, 40 story screen,
experience.
