With all the talk of grenades and living through the mistakes
try this,

We are playing twilightt 2000 (1 st ed)
and are quietly walking down a road in poland when 2 hevaly
armed sovets burst out through a hedge abought 1 meter away,
the gm says this but before he mentions the range i fire the
mgl-6 I keep for special occasions,
Net results 2 sovits are turned to Jam,
my carictor takes lage conncusion damage
my unit CO to my right gets several pecies of shrapnel to the
helmet
The uunit medic to my left gets abought 4 pices of shrap to the
torso and falls over in shock,

The co then takes my GL off me and thretans to kneecap me if i
do it again,

This is a warning for all you grenade happys types out there.
Yes the grenade is a wanderful toy but when it bites back it
will take you head off.

This is off the subject but Steel's story reminded me of a good one. I
was GMing some guys in TW2000,they were in S.America chasing some guys
in the jungle when they got sniped. The shooter was across the road at
a 45 degree angle. They killed him, but one gung-ho jerk went to check
him out.Never checked the road for booby-traps. I gave him a chance
of making it safely of over 10% I rolled 01% They never found all of
him.

The effect of grenades is very easily comparable to area effect magic.
Ex. Hellblast, Manaball and everyone's favorite, FIREBALL!!!
Sorry, didn't mean to shout. I tend to get a little excited when I say
that word. Although, when something like that happens, you tend to
learn very quickly about ranged attacks. Just thought I'd offer a
magical POV.
Arcanely yours,
The Magister
