May we have your attention please.

Please welcome Marc Renouf as the newest member of GridSec.

Marc has been a member of ShadowRN since it was on the Bitnet server at
HEARN. He is familiar with the list's peculiarities, customs, and
traditions (and witnessed the first "THWAP"). He also has past experience
as a list administrator for another mailing list.

Please note that it was not an easy choice to make as we had qualified and
respected applicants. We know that the other applicants will continue to
be community leaders and play positive roles on ShadowRN, and we are
grateful for their presence.

Thank you,
ShadowRN GridSec

But does he have the boots for the job? Or does he get them as part of his
GridSec uniform? ;)

Indeed, my Jackboots are in the mail. I expect them to arrive
about the same time as my new truncheon. :) Until then, my badly worn
combat boots will have to do.

Jackboots? I was supposed to send you JACKBOOTS?

Uhmm... When the balley slippers arrive, you might want to send them back...

It's at this point that the fundamental contradiction of my existence
comes to the fore. I'm basically a power-hungry sod who'd like nothing
more than to organise a military coup to supplant the list admins -
except for the perpetual migraine I'd get from having to run the damn
thing, and, IMNSHO, being appointed to GridSec is a good start.

On the other hand, I have too much fun being a jerk to ever have a hope
of actually making GridSec.

There you go - now you know me better. Run while you still can.

Pluck the hairs from my butt with your teeth in humble worship! For I,
I, am the mighty one, the incomparable one, the most...oh, errr...DLOH,
you say? Goodbye."

Doc' runs...*

It's hard to be a bunch of Jackbooted thugs if you don't
all have Jackboots, now isn't it?

He's already got the boots. And the rest of the authoritarian outfit to go
with them. ;)

Don't be too sure... the original GridSec candidates were the ones who
generated the most number of OT posts. As the old saying goes "Set a thief
to catch a thief"... well, if you make the biggest OT posters the ones in
charge of cutting it back, you're halfway to your goal already.

(Well, we would be if it worked. GridSec enjoys an OT post as much as the
rest of us, though, and more than most, I'd say. ;)

The good news I missed the orginal post and was spared the lip
service. <g>

The bad news is I missed it because it never came into my mailbox.
Is this problem (originally brought up by Gurth, I think) being
looked into, or is there something I need to do on my end?

Shhhh! Alex, you're not supposed to talk about all the leather
dominance gear in public. ;)

Oh, way not fair! You know I have a vivid imagination and you bring this up?! Now I
can't get this image of Marc in PVC and a cat of nine tails out of my head. I think I'm

For some reason, every time I describe you to someone who has never met you
before, they all get the same picture in their head. A white version of
Lawrence Fishburn in The Matrix. The style and attitude just seem to fit.

And I'm sure that more than one of your players has made the offhand
comment about your dominant style of GMing. ;P

Actually, I really *did* at one time own a pair of leather pants.
But that was decades ago, back in the days when parachute pants were cool
and I wanted to be different. Now parachute pants are no longer cool, and
I think that voluntarily *trying* to be different is a total waste of
time.
Go figure. :)
