Please don't shoot. You are *no* fun. ;)

Getting the 200 someodd listmembers to remember the [SR] would be a
nightmare. Simply because filtering can be done using the lists' email
address.

[snip]

Most mail readers these days (even Spike's old one. ;) have the capability
of filtering from the address the mail came from, in the case of the
ShadowRN mailing lists, shadowrn@********.itribe.net

You are using Eudora 4 (demo), so to set a filter up, right click on any
message from the list, select make filter, and select the option with the
list's address. Select to move it into a directory of your choice.

>I note that you use a filter with off topic posts [OT]
>but would see a greater relevance to having one for
>general posts.

The threads with [OT] are supposed to last no longer than 24 hours, (Yes,
this is a SUBTLE reminder, everyone!!! ;) or the Admins or Gridsec (Don't
ask me which I am, I'm still not sure, can't get a straight answer out of
Fearless Leader...) will come in and stomp the thread.

Also, with the [OT] in the subject line, those of the list who have no
desire to read the inane babble of Bull and company can just kill file it. ;)

>Obviously if there is a reason then please enlighten
>me, if not then please consider.

What?!? And change how us oldtimers have been doing things for ... for
years? *grin*

Well I'm off to a great start making a complete prat of myself
already. I don't know why I didn't think of filtering off the lists
address considering I do it for a couple of PBeM's mailing lists
that I play in. I feel about two inches tall about now.

Oh well at least my form fitting body armour is still intact.

Thanks for not using EX-Explosive :)

NONONONONO Dvixen. It's not something WE would have to do, it's something
the list would do automatically. (I know, I'm on another list that does it,
and I used to be on Earthdawn, and it did it too....)

And it creates problems like Gurth mentioned. Who needs it.

How do I do the trick with Netscape 4.0.3 for Mac?
When filtering mails, are they deleted from the (in my case t-online)-server
or do they remain there, jamming my mail-account?

Filtering takes place on your computer. If you set your preferences
to remove mail from your server (which I hope you do) then this will
continue. I just checked Navigator and they do support filtering. Go to
your edit menu and select Mail Filter. It should be pretty self
explanatory now.

No [SR] in the subjects as long as I'm here. I promise :)

Ok, I found it...but filtering does not what I hoped it would do...
So it's not possible to safe download time somehow? (Because I'm not earning
money yet and t-online is way too expensive ;) )
