At 06:17 PM 18/05/99 , Steven A. Tinner annoyed me by writing:
>I just want to be the first to point out that many people on this list are
>undoubtedly going to see Star Wars Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace at special
>early showings tonight at 12:01 am.

I should not need to remind everyone that this list is for Shadowrun, not
StarWars. That is as far as it goes.

>First, if you MUST post something about the movie, make sure it's relevant
>to SR, otherwise, post it somewhere ELSE!!!!!

If someone wishes to discuss certain bits of SW:tPM as it relates to
Shadowrun (converting rules, etc) then so be it.

And remember, a spoiler warning for SR relevant topics is [Spoiler] in the
topic, and *at least* 15 blank lines at the start of the message body.

As Tinner said, if it is not relavant, take it elsewhere. End of
discussion, no arguments allowed. Don't like it, find yourself a list
dedicated to Star Wars and go nuts.

>If it IS SR-relevant, then go ahead and post it, just be sure to leave some
>spoiler space, so people like me don't have anything ruined for them when
>the see it in the theaters, OK?

BUT. Remember that this list is an international list, and a LOT of the
list members will not have an oppourtunity to see it for a few months. (I
believe someone quoted September as the release date for Europe, but I'm
not 100% certain)

Not to mention that I have no intention of seeing the movie for the next
two months, so I will be HEAVILY ANNOYED by any twonk that posts spoilers.

>I certainly hope that GRIDSEC encourages others in this practice, and I
>would stand wholly in favor of extreme sanctions against anyone who ruins
>this flick for anyone!!!!!

Extreme Sanction... I can do that. *veg*

>Steven A. Tinner - Only partially kidding! ;-)

Dvixen - Not kidding. ;)

According to Dvixen, at 18:21 on 18 May 99, the word on
the street was...

I said 30 September, which is when it opens here in the Netherlands. But
different European countries have different release times, so some will be
able to see it as early as, perhaps, July or so.

Gurth - agreeing with Tinner and Dvixen ;)

I heard from a friend (who's going to the States in 2 weeks to see it) that
it has been pushed forward to the beginning of August!

Sheesh. Now THAT is a mite excessive, no? Taking an international trip JUST
to see a movie??

Heck, I live in the US myself, and a lot of my friends REFUSE to see it
sooner than mid-June or early July, because of the incredible CROWDS involved

Well, they're gonna make it a trip of a week to NY. But the main reason is
the movie. Actually, it's four of them. Two brothers who are really totally
addicted to anything Star Wars, another friend who is a little bit less,
and one's girlfriend who's coming along for the trip (and a bit for the
movie; although a few years back, when she still was my girlfriend and the
Special Edition came out, she was the only one who laughed more during A
New Hope than me... I did like it, but had forgotten how soapish it was for
modern SF standards; we found it more a comedy than Mars Attacks, which
annoyed again another friend of mine who adored both movies :-)

Well.. here in Australia (Newcastle anyway) if you dont see the movie
within the first week there is a real good chance it will be in a
smaller cinema, with lower budget sound and smaller screens... so its
put up with the crowds or pay $12 for video quality.

Ohh.. and I'm with Everyone in that spoilers = bad. Double Plus Bad.
:>

If you have to do spoilers... do it to friends and family, as there is
NO WAY they can avoid hearing what you say.

Oh- St. Louis... every theater I've called to see if they have any open
seating or what not... SOLD OUT for the next month at least. I've tried
every theater that has it... pretty bad, huh? I don't have any choice
but to wait till this time next month to see it, and it'll STILL be
crowded.
