I'm working on a Shadowrun-ish campaign using GURPS Magic and GURPS Cyberpunk
together. I'm curious if anyone else have done anything with this kind of
combo. How has it worked out? The melding of the two systems leads to some
interesting ideas, esp. in the combination of magic and technology, which is
difficult at best in SR, but enchanted Uzis and the like are a snap in GURPS.
Be interested in exchaning ideas with any GURPS GMs out there.

It does work.

I have indeed. It has had mixed results. I am in the process, funny you
would make this post, of making another conversion. I have always liked the
SR setting and magic/cyberware/gear/archtypes etc. But the system, has left
me a bit wanting.

Haven't done the enchated UZI yet, but SR's magic and items ARE convertable.
I have been using GURPS for years, IMHO it is the most realstic system for
combat. (Although like SR its vechicular combat is a bit boggeling)

I'd be intrested in exchanging too. If you want, email me for my recent
conversion notes\ideas.

Yes it is very possible to use GURPS to make a Shadowrun-ish campaign but
much of the "favour" of shadowrun is lost. There are some things that cannot
(or are difficult) to recreate like astral Space and astral combat. (there
is something about Astral in GURPS Psionics but it is not really magic).
But if you don't mind losing some of the "favour" for smoother gameplay
then by all means go ahead. Maybe you can succeed where I have failed. I am
willing to exchange ideas if you need any.

Actually it was someone else, but I don't remember who :)

(Where is ".sg" anyway?)

I haven't seen GURPS up close, but I'd advise use the SR reasoning for not
being able to enchant firearms -- you don't use the weapon to hit the
other, you use its bullets. And since the bullet is not in contact with
the attacker, it can't have a magical effect on the target.
