I just finished reading GURPS Technomancer, and I wanted to let you all know
that this could be a useful sourcebook for some Shadowrun gms. It's a new
campaign world for the GURPS system that combines magic and technology.

I believe the design criteria was specifically to make it not magic and
cyberpunk to avoid imitating shadowrun, but there are still a lot of
interesting ideas that could be integrated. It's set in a current day
alternate earth where magic works and is fairly ubiquitous. It all started
when the Trinity test opened a portal to another dimension and Oppenheimer's
"Destroyer of Worlds" quote closed a necromantic ritual.

The biggest thing is the integration of magic and tech. In cannon SR, these
two don't mix, and you can really see what sort of worm cans get opened when
you do this by reading Technomancer. There are a lot of interesting things
you could do in SR if you wanted to pursue these sorts of combos.

Another thing is the effects that magic has on society. In cannon SR, magic
is a lot less prevalent, so it does not have a significant effect on day to
day life. If it were to become more common or have a stronger impact on
society, this book could give you ideas.

Cybermancy seems a good canonic example of magic and technology mixing to
produce something that is wild.

I'm pushing it further with some of the material I'm working on - the
Praetorian project. Stuff will be up on a website when I get around to it
;-)
