Of course, looking from the rules point of view, it's easy to see why
there are no half-elves -- you'd have to figure out a
fool-&-munchkin-proof method of dividing up the racial bonuses (does a
half-human/half-ork get +0, +1, +2, or +3 Body?). And once you've done
that, there will be some smart-ass going "So what if my character's father
is a half-ork/half-elf, while his mother is half dwarf and half troll?"

In this particular case averaging the totals from the dominant portion
of the cross breed should bring the character into sensible rein.
Obviously munchkins are going to go for the troll side of dominance, but
then a half elf/troll is a difficult combination, and as well as having
some interesting bonuses, would have some not very nice penalties. If
the troll half is dominant, the elf/troll doesn't recieve the charisma
and intelligence bonuses, etc If the elf side is dominant, then only say
half the body and strength are awarded rather than the full total. It's
fairly easy to keep control of the idiots with a little logic and
determination. I get away with it because I've got good players, and
haven't had to work too hard at demunchkinising (is that a word?) the
bits and pieces I allow. :)

Heroes or Fools? That's a determination others will make in hindsight. But by
being here now, we make that determination for ourselves, and it's neither.
