Umm you might want to consider a different name. After all Fastjack is a
character from the SR books and a copyrighted name.

If you have to ask then it's probably classified.
Which means that I have to follow protocol.
But if you ask nicely I might forget that you asked.
Then again maybe not.

Actually, the name itself is not copyrighted. The book is. If the
copyright on a book kept anyone from using any character names enclosed,
there would only be one book with a character named John in it....the
last name Smith could only be used once, etc. Obviously, this is a
ridiculous idea.

I say use whatever name you choose. Take pride in your choice, and
don't let fascists tell you otherwise. ;)

Erm, excuse me. I usually just lurk and pop up with a question every now
and then, but this time I want to express myself. I use the handle "Dodger"
all over the place, on CB, IRC, over email, and even IRL. I know that this
is the name of a major character from the books, but I've been using this
name for about 6 years now, and I'm not going to stop. I don't think that
its wrong in any way for a person to use a handel of one of their favorite
characters from books or movies or whatever. And I don't think you're
violating copyright on a name if you just use the name and not the whole
character. I sure don't act like an elven cybermancer, and I don't think
Fastjack acts out his name's persona either. Anyway, Fastjack shouldn't
have to change his name. Sorry for the rant, but that suggestion just
struck the wrong nerve.

What's funny here is that FASA borrowed "The Dodger" name (and some
character similarities) from a piece of fiction far older than any of us.
(And if the reference was not immediately obvious, think about the
street name he gave Sam - "Twist".)

I know about "The Artful Dodger" from Dickens :) Although the "Twist"
bit
hadn't occured to me.
