The first printing of SR2 was hardback only. All other printings
were softbound only. This printing arrangement was the plan when SR2 was
released. I would have hoped FASA would have done the same with SR3
instead of creating this mad scramble to hunt down the HB SR3.

There's a trend here... My SR1 hardback (which I bought last year
in very good condition) is second printing. AFAIK, and MC23 also
says here, there was only one printing of SR2 hardbacks. Now
with SR3 FASA is apparently taking a further step back.

Great, then SR4 will only have one Hardback book printed and it will
be the property of the DLoH. Grrr, Then I shall be the next DLoH to own
that book. Mike, your days are numbered!

I got the idea that they had a hard time selling the hardback for SR2.
At the store I go to a couple of copies of the hardback sat on the
shelves for close to a year, while the softcovers cycled out without a
problem.

Strange... I tend to go for hardback versions of main rulebooks
whenever I can; they're not that more expensive, and they last a
lot longer even when used a lot. Guess not everyone sees that the
same way.

My SR1 softback fell apart in half a year, while my second edition
is still holding up very well after 5+ years. Okay, some pages in
the middle are loose and the spine has seen better days, but
that's much better than having the front and back covers and the
first 40 or so pages separate in six months...
