I was bored and got to thinking on some topics that might confuse people. One
topic is that of height. Now it says that the AVERAGE human height is about 1.7
meters or 5.6feet. (5'7"). Now what this means is that 5'7" is the average
height for a both men and women combined. Men therefore are about 5'8" and
women about 5'6" (just guessing). Now some of you might think this is low, but
consider this. First of all we are NOT talking about just american - who I
believe now average about 5'10" or more. We are talkig the world. NOw a major
factor in how tall you grow is diet. Much of the world (including high tech
places) have many undernurished people. Protein, which effects height, is also
somewhat more limited than before, though soy products do help. Sickness also
will keep down the height to below todays normal standards. In fact if you look
back in history, the dark ages were known for having shorter people than some of
the ages before them because of improper diet.

Basketball players. I also got to thinking of this topic. People we think of
as tall basketball player type of people. The true tall players "big men" are
often around 7' tall, thats about 2.1 meters.

so a 'Basket ball player' of of each race (those people you look and say
"wow is he tall"
Race Norm basketball
dwarf 1.2 (3'11 1/2") 1.48 (4'10 1/2")
human 1.7 (5'6") 2.1 (7')
elf 1.9 2.34 (7'8 3/4")
Ork 1.9 3.24 (7'8 3/4")
troll 2.8 3.46 (11'5")

Trolls. When you think about basketball players - you often think about long
arms. Well a normal human has a 1-1 arm to height ratio. What this means is
that a persons total arm length tip to tip is the same as he is tall. Trolls on
the other hand have a greater ration favor of arm length, probably around
1.1-.2 to 1. What this means id that your 3.46 meter tall troll has an arm
length of about 3.99 and a reach of about 1.99 (6'6") ie - their arms are
longer than you are tall. A normal troll is about 3.22 arm length and a reach
of about 1.61(5'4")

(Side note (and the thing that got me thinking) CRUSH is 3.7 or 12'4"
with a total arm length of about 4.26 and a reach of 2.13 (7') is this scary or
no? )

in fact the inuet [what we now call esquimos] were an average 4 ft tall
or short depending on your point of view - also more than likely due to
poor diet
