Subject: help need with a Shadowrun to Gurps convertion

Hi,

I having bought Gurps basic set a few mounths ago I
have found that I real like the system so I wish to
convert my favorite setting *shadowrun* to use this
system. Now I have done most of it but they are a few
little things I would like get right befor I 1st play
it. Any help any one could give me would be most
greatfully recivied.

How do I repercent this in the gurps system.
+2 to skill ?
-2 to snap shoot No ? *this is what I am thinking of*

I would also like to see what others think are good
convetions of the shadowrunner wep's so I could check
mine againest them.

Rigging is giving a few problems to as is net running.

any help please.

hey there,

I'd recommend a copy of GURPS Cyberpunk, which would probably answer all
your questions.. mines buried somewhere in the loft, so I cant help...

Combine the benefits of having a laser sight on your weapon
(halve SS, increase Acc by 2) with the benefits of operating the gun via
a neural interface (+4 to skill) :). Both these bonuses are GURPS canon.

The latest on the Laser sights in GURPs is that they reduce the snap shot
penalty, not the SS of your weapon. That is as of Compendium II.
As for duplicating a Smartlink, it is basically a laser sight from GURPs
combined with a Neural HUD (Ultratech II, pg 111).

Total for smartlinked weapon is +2 Acc./ -6 SS/ and snap shot penalties
are reduced based on range. Pretty Snazzy, Neh?

Speaking of Ultra Tech 2, it is pretty much indispensable if you plan to
run any kind of cyberpunk game, and has all the hard stuff to convert in
it,
such as Wired reflexes( accelerated reflexes) , Bonelacing (Hyper-tough
Skeleton) , guns by category (Heavy pistols, etc.). GURPs vehicles has
also
been useful, more for its weapon design section than anything else
('course we don't have a rigger...). Hell, here is a list of what I use:

GURPs Basic
Compendium 1 & 2
Ultratech 1 & 2
Biotech ( I love this book. )
Vehicles
Martial Arts ( Mad Fu!)
Warriors ( Easy NPCs)
Technomancer (More NPC Archtypes, and some alternate background material
& spells)
Magic
Grimoire
Cyberpunk
Cyberworld
Psionics (for astral travel)
Special ops

Of course I also use some Millenniums End stuff, a butt-load of Cyberpunk
stuff, and leave us not forget a copy of Palladiums Ninjas & Superspies
and Mystic China.

Initially I attempted as much conversion over substitution as possible,
but I eventually came to the realization that as long as the PCs where
having a good
time and the rules worked that they really didn't care about technical
perfection, and by using substituted material I spent less time answering
questions.
How hard it wasn't to say "Look in the book!".

COWBOY(still thinks GURPS Rednecks would be a good sourcebook...)
