What is a "generic" hermetic circle? Theres no such thing in SR, afaik-
even ritual circle,s not detailed in SR#, are oriented to one spell type, and
hence indirectly to an elemnt. Sure, you could WARD your ritual spce, which
woulkd proably do just what you want, anyhow.

I used to collect diagrams of ritual circles, and on impresion I got is
that the "gestalt" effect was much more important than the components- the
drawings are not terribly precise. Symbolism is very important in these
things. Unless the smaller ritual circles were somehow useful components of
the larger, they have no business inside it. I certainly wouldn't advise
jerking around with mojo that way, since you never know if you might misdirect
power in some way or something.

I saw the thing about circles being tailored for specific rituals ... I would
then have to say that the larger circle is nothing more now than a protective
ward of some sort for all of the circles within it.

What I was trying to get at was the Symbolism ... though all of the elements
are separate, they also overlap and conflict or cohabitate with each other.

I can see circles that are done for this purpose are used primarily by
Initiate organizations that get seriously into the Symbolisms of the Elements
and their placements then.

BTW, has anyone also seen how screwed up a Symbolic Circle for the Paths of
Tir Na'nog must look like ... the opposing elements are not opposite each
other ... they are next to each other ... Earth (North) and Air (East) ...
Water (West) and Fire (South) ...

Just wondering,
