Subject: HEY! Adam! Mark! You have a problem
Date: Tue, 2 Feb 1999 22:57:23 +0000
I posted your bouncey message to our computer officer, and he came back with
this.

Looks like you may have to change a few setting.
(Now that I understood a word of it. I was lost after he get past DNS)

And verily, did Jonathan Knight hastily scribble thusly...

|Nope. The system worked perfectly.

|I imagine that this is a fairly new outfit who have missed out on this
|fun feature. The site lists.html.com has no mail exchanger records
|registered in the DNS. As a result our anti-spam software has rejected the
|email. They seem to have registered lists.html.com with an A record, but
|our email systems don't pay attention to those records, only the MX
|ones.
|
|We use EXIM as our MTA and there was a debate about this on the exim
|mailing lists where several revered people dug out the RFC's and demonstrated
|that exim's behaviour was the most desired. I'll review it again to check
|on the reasons and see if we need to change this behaviour for ourselves,
|but I'm sure this site will have many more complaints from exim based users.
