Subject: Hey GRIDSEC ... can we kill spoilers?

I just want to be the first to point out that many people on this list are
undoubtedly going to see Star Wars Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace at special
early showings tonight at 12:01 am.

I would like to request that these people show some consideration to those
of us with jobs and responsibilities who won;t get to see the film until
later in the week.

Please people don't be stupid.
First, if you MUST post something about the movie, make sure it's relevant
to SR, otherwise, post it somewhere ELSE!!!!!

If it IS SR-relevant, then go ahead and post it, just be sure to leave some
spoiler space, so people like me don't have anything ruined for them when
the see it in the theaters, OK?

I certainly hope that GRIDSEC encourages others in this practice, and I
would stand wholly in favor of extreme sanctions against anyone who ruins
this flick for anyone!!!!!

I agree. Lynchmobs for anyone who spoiles the movie for anyone else. But
particularly me!

Here, here! (or is that supposed to be hear! hear!)

I don't particularly want a repeat of the Matrix fiasco (I still haven't
had a chance to see that one yet :( ). Episode 1 doesn't open here in
Australia until June 3. Please remember that not everyone will get to
see it this week.

cheers
Geoff

Or just have too much self respect to go stand in the rain for 12 hours
just to see it.

As for killing spoilers.... We may not have black ICE, but I think I may
be able to get my hands down a phone line to stangle them at thier
computers. (The advantages of tiny hands)

I have an honest Shadowrun List-oriented question based on this current
thread:

If the idea was not to talk about Star Wars, why has it blossomed into a
Star Wars-esque discussion?

Just curious

So what you're saying is that it is the -order- of things that chaos will
always triumph?

No, that would just be silly. My roomate went two hours after the tickets
first went on sale, and didn't have to stand in a line. (We also didn't
really have to stand in a line to get IN to see the film, although we did
go early).

The line is a self-perpetuating myth. All you have to do is pick your
time, and buy the tickets in advance.

I know it is self-perpetuating it. And it was perpetuating in the form of
about twenty nitwits outside of the theatre at 0630. For a theatre that
has eighty-ninety seats (I'm in rural Vermont), that isn't a good sign.
