Did it work?

I am actually serious in this question, since the mechanics for this spell
are (in my opinion) inadequate for the task that it purports to fulfill.

Say you've got a 12th Grade initiate tossing a Force 10 exclusive expendable
fetish-dependent Urban Renewal spell with Power Focus (9), Manipulation
Category Focus (9), Specific Spell focus (9), Fetish Focus (9), a Force 6
Ally, and a Force 8 Earth elemental at a reasonably solid modern building.

The player gets to roll 60 dice against Target Number 8, and does so
brilliantly, getting 20 successes. These are added to the base Force, for a
total of 30. The area of effect is 66 meters across.

Comparing to the building's Barrier rating (probably 16 - Heavy Structural
Material), we see that the Power of the attack is greater than Barrier
Rating, by 1 increment of half that rating (I'll even round up to 2). So,
the Barrier rating is reduced by 2, and a 2-meter hole is opened in the
building.

All the windows will be smashed, unless they are large windows of Armored
Glass (which will still have a Barrier rating of 1), and non-supporting
walls almost certainly removed.

Try working it out for a *sane* casting. I figure about 15 Power, enough to
smash ballistic windows and average doors within the (say 20m diameter) area
of effect. Is it worth it for 5D drain?

It works quite well on wooden sheds and with a bit of pushing on
older brick built structures (barrier ratings arround the 8 or so)
but even then you have to be feeling kind and use the base S damage
that the spell has.
When it comes to vaugely serious buildings i quite agree its
hopeless. Same goes for Ram (replace with force 6 powerbolt any day -
far far more effective).
When it comes to buildings not much beats a bag of C12, sam with
demolitions and an improved invis spell so no one spots him doing the
dirty deed. [unless you happen to have a handy dragon or Banshee LAV]

Hell with a force that high, don't you mean demolishing cities?
