Vampires as SCs

PCs are infected by a slightly mutated HMHVVirus that leaves them with
a slighly modified vampirism. This virus (HMHVV-III) affects all known
metatypes and provokes "vampiric" behaviour in them (all metahumans, not
just homo sapiens sapiens).

First, the term "blood sucking" means the draining of Essence through
biting a victim and drinking its blood. The term "blood thirst" means
a pure lust for blood that is induced through the virus. This lust
leads to a killing rage in rhytmic time intervals. The thirst can be
stilled through consumption of raw flesh. This is not essence-related
and even the meat of non sapient beings will help.

Infection
An infection can occur through any kind of blood contact. This can be
blood transfer, "blood sucking", even through contact with infected
blood when minor wounds o hands (or contact area) are possible.
To resist an infection, a character has to pass an Essence Test
with a TN of {3 + (Number of lost Essence through draining[rounded
up]) + (Lost Essence through other means/2 [rounded up]) + (0 if
minor contact, 1 if transfusion, 2 if draining is reason for infection)
If the character has at least one success, [s]he has overcome the
HMHVV-III BUT IS NOT IMUNE TO IT! Another infection may occur
after a day.

Results of HMHVV-III
When infected with HMHVV-III, a character suffers these weaknesses:
* Allergies:
* Sunlight (light) (+1 to all TN while in sunlight)
* 50% chance on Allergy against Holy Symbols (Severe). (This is
psychologically based) (1)
* 50% chance on Allergy against silver (Severe) (This is
psychologically based) (1) (2)
NOTES: (1) An infected has to check for both Allergies, he can have
neither or both!
(2) A character may make a Intelligence (15), Magical Theory(8) or
Biology[Parazoology](4) check to overcome this Allergy since it
common knowledge, but false, that vampires are allergic to silver.
Characters who fought against Vampires and do know this don't
suffer from this Allergy.

* Bloodthirst: At least once a week the character has to eat raw meat
or something similar. This seems to be mainly psychologically, to
"behave right".

* Chance on Essence Loss: Once a month the character got to pass
a Willpower check with TN=(10 - Essence). If he fails to achieve
at least one success, he looses one Essence Point. If the Essence
drops below 0, the character dies within a day (if he doesn't get
some Essence till the End of the day.)
The TN is modified as follows:
+ 1 per month without "Blood Sucking"
+ 1 per not fulfilled "Blood Thirst" since last "Blood Sucking"

* Induced Sleep: After 3 Rounds without breathing, the character falls
asleep. In this state, he can survive up to (Body) hours without
breathing.

* Vulnerability (Wood): As per rules, SRII p.220)

An infected character has these powers:
* Limited astral perception: The character can see creatures in astral
space, if:
- the creature is present only in astral space,
- the character passes an Intelligence Test(6) and
- the character is not distracted (moving, fighting, reading, ...)

* Limited Immunity to poisons: The power of all poisons is reduced
by 1.

* Essence Drain: As per rules, SRII pp. 217-218. It takes about one
minute to drain one point of Essence.

* Enhanced Senses (Hearing, Smelling, Thermographic vision) Not if
the character has replaced or modified the organs.

* Limited Regeneration: Once per day a Body-Test(12-Essence+Wound
Modificator) to regenerate one box of damage.

I hope you'll enjoy these rules!
