Well... I have both the SRII and ED game systems (and I am torn as to which I
prefer... I really think that the ED system is much smoother running, but I
like the premise behind SR a little better)...

Comparing stats in both directions, I would say that some of the weaker
horrors would be handled by a well equipped party if they did a little
planning... HOWEVER... the stronger Horrors are equivalent to dragons in terms
of toughness... they have armor plating, really high stats, etc etc... I would
assume they are Dual-Natured (making their astral presence just as nasty as
their physical), and they also have a range of nasty abilities that would
really shred a party of runners unless they were REALLY tough and REALLY well
prepared...

So, I wouldn't want to send any runners up against some of the tougher
Horrors... they are a great deal tougher than they seem...

I just want to say this before things start to get heated. I don't think
we're going to see a horror invasion in SR, I realize that FASA has a lot of
material pointing at the upcoming Scourge and that there are/may be horrors
in the world, and that they could invade, but I don't think it will happen.
TopCat does. Before he and I start arguing and sending useless posts to the
group trying to prove our superiority over the other, I'll bow out. I like
having the fear of horrors to throw at my players, but I don't want a major
invasion to screw up the world. Me, I like the bugs better. I don't know
why, I think it's because UB was the first wildly succesful SR module I ever
ran. TopCat, if you do decide to bring a lot of Horrors into your world, I
would really like to hear about it. I think it could make a great story
line, I just don't want it in my world. And if (God forbid) there is
someday a book called "the Horrors make your characters bend over and take
it" I will admit that you were right :)

All in all, I think this thing got heated due to misunderstandings. You saw
that I was predicting/wanting a Scourge. I don't. I just want Horrors
around, in small numbers til everything gets a little more magical. It
shakes things up, makes life a little more interesting for everyone. I
don't want to see Shadowrun become some post-apocalyptic Earthdawn II. I
just want to see a solid threat to balance everything else.

Also, I perceived you as saying that everyone would quit SR (or at the very
least ignore new developements) if Horrors did ever come back. And I was
wrong there. So to that end, I apologize.

Simple misunderstandings got things a little heated. Happens a lot :)
