Fair enough... I guess that would be a good question to ask...How many have
had their characters go SINless and how many gamemasters have had their players
choose SINless over SINed? :) From my experience almost everyone has gone the
SINless route as it's easier to try to flash fake stuff than the real thing..

Well, let's see. Of my last three characters, the first was a UCAS
military, er, asset, recently sold up the river (along with the rest of his
unit) and presumed dead. He had a real SIN on file with the Army, which was
both a bit obscure and marked 'DEAD', and a fake identity (matching those of
the rest of his unit) claiming he was a commercial soldier and member in good
standing of the Mercenary's Guild. The next, a decker, had a real SIN but
avoided using it in illegal ways - he was well aware, professionally, of how
easy such things are to track. He paid his taxes (reporting some portion of
his income as 'Consulting Fees' and spending the rest on things like his
deck, which he didn't 'officially' own anyway), and was generally a good
little citizen. He also had (eventually) a fake SIN for the purposes of
travel & such. By the time he needed it, he could afford it.
My next character started the game with a SIN, but lost it (and
his job, and his apartment) about 10 minutes into his prelude. I'm guessing
the next things he'll lose will be his temper and his mind, but we'll see.
If he lives long enough, and can't get his own identity back, I expect
he'll be looking for a wake one as well. There're certain kinds of
business (like, say, stock transactions) that he's interested in that
are mighty hard if you don't exist.
Two of those characters, though, were gainfully employed (at some
point), and two of them (not the same two) lived a Middle lifestyle. If
you have a runner who grew up in dirt and is happy with a Low lifestyle,
he can probably get by without a SIN...as long as he never wants to cross
national borders, or can afford to pay a smuggler.

I have 4 charcters currently.
1 who had a SIN, got it erased, got arrested (and thus got a SIN) and
bought a fake SIN.
1 who had a SIN, got it erased, and bought a fake SIN.
1 who doesn't have and never did have a SIN.
1 who has a SIN.

(Btw, I treat Rating 6 fake SINs as real SINs as far as Shadowbeat
Lifestyles are concerned.)

Well I know the character I am about to play indeed does have a SIN. But
that was becuse of PR and background story that I am just not going to go
into. Anyway Their a benefits to haveing a sin and to not haveing a sin.
Just claim sinlessness when ya get picked up but I will better explain how
well it impacts game play after this Sunday when I do get to play.

Wouldn't it be difficult to 'claim sinlessness' if the arresting authority
has access to your SIN-identifiable material? (I.E. retinal scans,
fingerprints, DNA material, random-identifiers-that-I-don't-know-about,
etc.)
