Okay, the real question I'd meant to ask under that subject header
was: How often do PCs in your campaign go on runs? Do they pull down a
job a week? One big score a month? More often than that? Less?

But after I typed the subject, it also occurred to me to ask: and
when runs go badly, how often do they say 'frag it, this run's in the
garbage' and pull out, instead of getting themselves killed trying to
pull it off anyway? :)

Back when I was Gming a campaign, I would roll a D6 and let
that be the number of weeks since the last run ended. Unless
there were special circumstances, etc etc etc.
This seemed to work pretty well, and the PC's would then
catch me up with what they had done during the intervening
weeks. (Studying, training, creating a foci, spell, etc etc)

This for me has been a moot point. Usually by the time they
figure out the run is down the tubes, their fighting for their
life, and success isn't accomplsihing the mission, its living
to see daylight. <Evil Grin>
Besides you have to strike a balance. A Runner team was hired
because the job was difficult. If you bail out too often whenever
it looks rough, your reputations goes in the toilet.

Actually, mine run about every week or two. The rest of the time is
spent appeasing their various contacts, hospital stays, and training.

My runners have often come near death because they fragged a run and
were either too dumb to quit, or too unaware of their surroundings.
Either way, they stay in the hospital awhile. I'd say they end up in
the hospital after about 20-30% of the time.

In the group that I'll play they have this strange
"roleplay-every-fragging-day" behaviour. From this point it is that we do
often Run, for live AND for money. But in reflection, we do get a job every
two weeks or so, having downtime during the days in the week (in RL). On
the other hand, we sometimes play three to four times a week, quite a lot
of time to waste with "Runs".

Ah, to my disregard we allmost never had a fragging bust up. I think the GM
can't do this, because his wife is quite a "Winner" type. But on the other
hand we do have most of the time pretty good plans. Not that I as a GM
would screw them not. But it is fun in a way, Loose here and there WOULD be
a bit more fun. Annyhow, seems that I can't qualify in here to answer this
one.

My group usually spends about a month average between jobs. Sometimes it's
a lot less, sometimes a few months pass, but it all evens out. We decided
to use the Companion training times, and I successfully argued that we'd
never have a chance to spend our Karma if we did a run a week.

I'm GM about half the time, player the other half. My group (me included)
is rather cocky. We feel we can handle anything. If things go bad, we
don't always try to accomplish EVERY mission objective, but we always try
to do the major one(s).

Well, since i began GMing the group, they've run pretty much every
week, just cos i like to keep em busy. This was after a 2 month break
cos the shaman had to spend that in hospital getting patched up.

I haven't run any very deadly missions as yet, although the last GM's
last mission was a bit of a trap, just to get us to stop accepting
every mission we came across i think.

That's easy to fix, just seriously injure one of the PC's and then the
rest can train while they're in hospital, then do it to a different PC
the next time so the one who got hurt can train. Or do it to the
decker, if you have one, and they can lie in bed and program all day
if they want (and can:)

Our team spends about a week or so between runs. When we're actually
running together, anyway. (Jes!) The group as a whole has taken a long
time off. Most of my PCs tended to try and stay as busy as possible.
After all, they mostly run for the thrill. I've rarely met a run they'd
turn down.

PC1: "Drek. My gun muscle's getting tired. I gotta train!"

PC2: "Me too. Okay, time to hospitalize. Whose turn is it this week?"

PC1: "I think it's Mikey's turn."

PC3: "AGAIN? Frag! I just got hospitalized last August!"

PC1: "Sorry, omae. Chart on the fridge says it's your turn."

PC3: "All right, all right. Get it over with. You do it, Bob, your aim's
better."

PC2: "Any preference?"

PC1: "Mmm, better go for something vital, Bob. I'm gonna need at least three
weeks to practice Firearms."

PC2: "Sure thing." [Obligingly shoots Mikey in the right lung, laying him over
at DocWagon Central until cloned tissue can be grown to patch the injury...]

I have noticed that alot of the post under "Dumb Things" are the runners not
pulling out after things start to go VERY wrong. There is nothing like a
shoot out with Lone Star to frag up a run.

Well, I sorta meant an NPC shoot them, not the players shoot
themselves:)

It depends on how good the team is. My newbie team that I am running is lucky
to get a run every 3-6 weeks. However my vetern group easily pulls down 2 runs
a month. Its is rare that they get more work than that. Course I am still
playing 2055.

The smart players will pull out and not attempt the run. I have had an entire
team die beacuse they refused to pull out despite the odds.

The team had totaly fragged the run and alerted the compund they were breaking
into. They decided to open the vehicle gate and go through. Saddly the rigger
did not have runflats and the last ditch intruder counter measures took out
his tires. Mind you, he decided to enter the compund AFTER he had picked up
the military helicopters closing in. I actually heard one of the players say
"Let's get closer to the building,. they won't fire on us then"

Oh well, one missile took most of them out.

When the experienced team frags a run, generally they lay low for about 2
months or so.
