This a question for those who know much in the ways of the magic system of
our beloved SR II system (nightstalker, burnout, etc.)

Are there ways to defeat or lessen the effects of detection spells.
While the detect enemies spell can be avoided, at least in some respects,
it can't forever.

<Wow, Witchy Woman is on the radio.>

Manipulation Spell, basically a personal 'Detection Barrier.' A
Mana Barrier with limited target(Detection Spells). Add the Force
to the target number to detect it.

Shoot the mage before he casts the spell; avoid the mage. Little
things like that.

Those are your choices, pretty much.

Also, DLoH mentioned that you can design spells to cancel out the various
hypersense spells, putting them in the same school or class.

Actually I asked Tom Dowd (via our ever faithful Doom-meister)
about this one a while back. There is in fact a category all
ready for this purpose:

ILLUSION

You can hide yourself from people with invis right? Well
you can design spells to trick detection spells also.

That is as fair as I went- never designed any spells but thought
about spells to counter the two spells I hate the most-
Mind Probe (I wish this spell did not exist!) and Analyze Truth.

And what is wrong with Mind Probe and Analyze Truth?
Actually, I prefer a Manipulation Spell, Compel Truth.

I think they eliminate alot of role-play and slag the
need for some very cool skills.

Why need to be nice, we just subdue, Mind Probe 'em and
then we have all the info we need and move on.

I prefer the physical skills of Interrogation and good
old fashion role-play.

Mind Probe just seems like it is a fast, cheap way of
accomplishing something that could be alot of fun to role
play.

As for the manipulation version- I would hate to have to deal with
those thresholds....
