Subject: H's Back Question
Date: Sat, 12 Nov 1994 19:18:11 EST
Quick Question:
In "Wasteland", the GM is to first tell the characters that their
cyberware works, but there is no chrome present. Now, my question is:
What about spurs and such? Does the same usual muscular reflex that
normally extends the spurs or razors trigger a magical blade that
comes out of the arm, or what? I'm mostly looking for opinions, so any
insight you can share, I'd appreciate.

Thanx mucho, chummers!

It is my impresssion from reading the book several times now, that in the
above situation, you retain your cyberware _unless_ it has an effect on
the outside world, or unless it was useless (like datajacks). So, while
you keep your wired reflexes, you lose your razors. It does't make too
much sense, admitedly, but then again, HB is an excuse for the GM to do
whatever the hell he wants to...;-)

heh heh - and one of the parts says basically - "The less sense things make, the
better."

I agree though - in the sections where it says "The runner keeps his Cyber, but
he looks totally normal" I would say no Razors. I get this idea from the fact
that in that part it says that a cyber arm will be a real one - though augmented
in STR if the characters normal Cyber-Arm is.

Yeah. About 15 minutes after writing this message, I realized that
this was the case (no thwaps, please). I just thought that people
would realize my mistake, and so assume that I had noticed it.
Nevertheless, I appreciate your response.

Well, ok, I'll admit that I haven't read the book yet (it probably isn't out
in Australia yet), but I'll put in my say non the less. Perhaps the
character will just have a more damaging punch. The muscle increase is
carried across, yet the character has a normal arm, so why not just carry
the damage for a punch across, even though the character just has a normal
fist? Or you could get bizaire, and go for a set of claws or something, or
really long finger nails :-)

it doesn't fit with how that section works, for then, just forget abo=
