a bullet hitting a body. All types of bullets do hydroshock damage normally.
the portion of damage due to hydroshock depends on the mass (caliber) and
the velocity of the bullet. Flechettes and shotgun bursts also do hydroshock
but since the projectile(s) are divided into many smaller masses it is not as
big a factor. The term Hydroshock is used because the body is mostly water,
and a small mass of metal hitting it at high velocity sends shockwaves
through the water-like body. While a bullet only creates a small hole (small
is a relative term here) a person hit in the torso will still probably be
killed because the shock wave damages connective tissues, bursts blood
vessels and does all kinds of neat things to nearby organs.
The main problem in the debate on boosted reflexes is that they were
created before rules for bioware came into being. I believe that boosted
flexes was originally supposed to be a bioware thing, but was simulated using
the rules for cyberware (why create new rules just for one piece of equipment
) My suggestion would be to either completely disallow it (argument: it is
replaced by the synaptic accelerator) or convert it to bioware (treat it's
essence cost as body index) or just play dumb and pretend it's just a fancy
piece of cyberware.
