Highlanders (for want of a better name, a la the movie) in
Shadowrun

Simply put, Highlanders are physical adepts with one starting
ability (which costs all 6 magic points): they are immortal,
unless their heads are separated from their bodies.

Initiating: Highlanders gain an initiate level whenever they kill
another of their kind. There is no other way for them to
initiate. [original author's idea: they get all of their victim's
magic points]

Taking damage: Highlanders suffer all of the effects of physical
damage that normal humans do (target number penalties, etc.).
However, they do not die at Deadly damage. The only way to kill
one is to bring him/her to Deadly damage with an edged weapon
or monofilament whip (which, for simplicity's sake, will be
assumed to decapitate the individual). Though perhaps some sort
of "body vs strength" test would be needed to cut off the head.
In any event, since Highlanders fall unconscious at Deadly
damage, you could easily cut off their head afterwards.

Magic loss: After taking a Deadly wound, don't forget to roll
for magic loss.

How Highlanders heal: This should be up to the gamemaster; I
personally think that they should (a) always be allowed to
heal normally, even out of the hospital, and even at deadly
wounds. Perhaps they could have one automatic success at
"healing." I.e., they will automatically heal within the
amount of recovery time alloted, and can roll (as normal) to
decrease healing time (using their body dice instead of a
doctor's skill). On the other hand, maybe they should just
use the Stun Damage recovery table to heal from physical
wounds.

Should Highlanders remain conscious at Deadly damage? Actually,
maybe they should. Hmm. After all, the Kurgan does take a
full-on SMG burst to the torso and goes out to party afterwards.
Hmm. In any event, target numbers should be heinous.

Metahumans: NO METAHUMAN HIGHLANDERS! At least, no Trolls. That
would be way to munchkin, IMHO. An immortal troll. Think of the
abusiveness. They're near-immortal as is.

Highlanders can make a perception test to spot others of their
kind; the target number is (distance in meters)/10m.

NOTES:
I recommend this only as an NPC, or the character of a more
mature and capable player (a very, very rare commodity in
Shadowrun campaigns). It really isn't too tough (Shadowrun
characters being nigh-immortal already) and, in terms of skills,
abilities, and money, will actually be slightly WIMPIER than the
average character. Anyway, its something to think about.
