it's time for another first impression...
The book starts off with a "how to use this book" section, explaining
that POAD:DS is a last will and testament with 200+ entries, many of
which are adventure ideas for GMs (and players) to use as they see fit;
FASA will only expand on 10 or so in future SR books.
Then follows a timeline, from mid-2056 through 14 November 2057,
explaining what happens from the moment Dunkelzahn is recognized as a
UCAAS citizen, through his election and assassination, to the forming of a
commission to investigate the murder.
What follows next is a transscript of trideo images of Dunkelzahn's
assassination, and other related texts I haven't read yet, and after that
comes the actual will.
Dunkelzahn states he wants humanity to grow up, but doesn't give specific
warnings about the future. Then come the 200+ entries of who will be given
what, including such things as "To the first party to track down the
Russian crown jewels".
After those 12 pages, there's a lot of talk about whodunit, what
Dunkelzahn has left behind, etc. in a chapter called "Fallout." Then a
chapter with the major players in all this -- corps like Ares, Brackhaven
Investments, Humanis Policlub, and lots more, and let's not forget the
Draco Foundation: a foundation set up by Dunkelzahn to carry out his will
and care for the things he left behind. It's headed by Nadja Daviar
(Dunkelzahn's spokeswoman -- literally -- when he was alive), who also
happens to be vice-president of the UCAS now.
There are more chapters in the book, but what they all seem to do is look
at what happens to the world now that the Big D is dead.
All in all, it looks like an interesting read that may spark lots of
adventures. Although, as I said, this is a first impression, I think it
looks pretty good so far. 8 out of 10 at least.
One other thing of note is that the familiar shadowcomments have been
done away with, to be replaced by a new format: a > in a circle indicates
the start of the comment and the poster's name -- there are no >>>>>[
]<<<<< things or time/date stamps anymore.
Oh, and Dunkelzahn was a John Lennon fan :)
