I know it's generally frowned upon to leave more than what's relevant as
quote, but I figured I should leave the spoiler space intact.

The information you're looking for is in Shadows of North America. If my
memory serves, it's pretty vague. The only thing I can tell you for certain
is that it is NOT an open shooting war. It seems to be skirmishes across
the border by both sides.

One of the possible reasons for the fighting is a manaline, but even that
has two different versions. One is that a manaline is dragging toxic energy
from the Tsimshian into the Salish (in this case, the fighting was started
by the Salish). Alternate version is that there's a manaline just inside
Salish territory that the Tsimshian want to take.

Kinda catchy tune. ;-)

Some more info from SoNA:

2060: Tsimshian border patrols capture a dozen Salish just inside the
border. The Salish claim to be hikers but Tsimshian tries them as spies and
executes them.

May 2-4, 2062: Tsimshian troops invade the Salish-Shidhe's sparsely
defended northern outposts and reach as far as the area of Okanagan Lake
and the city of Kelowna. After heavy fighting they are pushed back to, and
in some areas past, the border. Thousands of Salish-Sidhe soldiers and
civilians, and some Tsimshian troops are killed by what some believe to be
biowarfare agents, though Tsimshian denies responsibility.

May 5, 2062: The Salish-Sidhe Council signs a cease-fire with the Tsimshian
government. Both sides dig in and build their forces.

July 2062: The cease-fire is broken by a series of attacks by Salish
militias. Both sides engage in raids, missile strikes, spirit strikes and
strategic bombings without a massive mobilisation - yet.

Hope that helps.

Chris
